  • Hard News: Friday Music: Got Knox?, in reply to Hebe,

we have an up-to-A3 printer/scanner bought three months ago that you can use if wanted.

Thanks Hebe, but it needs to be in Auckland, I was just collating the material to be scanned for the Auckland publishers...

That was my rent in 1979

aaah yes, I forgot how inflation took off in the late 20th century - those were indeed 'the days'!

    - could this be changed in the main story asap,
perhaps another moderator could do this if Russell is away.

Hundreds of Auckland musicians appeared at the Alhambra, … including Larry Morris

Who you can catch live at the Grey Lynn RSC in Francis Street tonight (friday the 13th) if you have a friend who is a member.

I loved the illusion of the Alhambra, and its transition from Three Lamps Plaza to Moroccan Role play….

    Grafix Knox scanning

They’d also be interested in hearing from anyone who can offer access to an A2 scanner.

Actually even an A3 scanner (or SRA3) would help them in their digitising endeavours immensely (they're currently doing Herculean work with an A4 scanner and a stitch program - very time consuming though) - contact them to liaise if you have one they could borrow or have easy access to, handy to town (Auckland).

This one indicates the level of ill-informed paranoia rife in the US as well - scary place.

Trump may as well be in power now it seems...
    http://www.stuff.co.nz/world/australia/79912669/trip-to-new-york-ends-in-being-cuffed-in-a-cell-and-mystery-deportation

You're a young Australian artist with a growing international reputation and slew of upcoming exhibitions in cities around the world.
First up, travel to New York for your solo exhibition at a major art fair. Or so Hamishi Farah, 25, hoped.
But what unfolded was more like a real-life episode of Homeland. You know, the one where people of colour get locked up without charge.
    ...
Farah arrived, went through customs and had his passport stamped but was told he needed to go upstairs for further questioning.
Two guards, one with an assault rifle met him, and his phone, bags, shoelaces and passport were confiscated.
They refused to let him make phone calls or contact anyone, and he was put in a cell. At one point he was cuffed to the wall.
"I was mocked by them for being an artist when I tried to explain my story, they called me an idiot and a prima donna," says Farah, who is represented by the Minerva Gallery in Sydney.
They repeatedly tried to bait him about what an artist is, and said they failed to believe he could make work or "find inspiration" without the use of drugs, he said.

  • Polity: Is being a tax haven worth it?,

    http://www.stuff.co.nz/national/politics/79871399/key-thrown-out-of-parliament-over-panama-papers-row

"No, look it's a statement of fact actually that Greenpeace are in the database - they are a beneficiary, as you can see, of the exodus trust.
"And I think what it goes to prove actually is that a lot of New Zealanders are having their name dragged across the TV set every night, who are unwittingly implicated simply by going about and doing their things.
"They have no knowledge of what's happening at all."
That was the "real danger" of the database.
"[Greenpeace] are in the database, I'm not making it up. I mean, you go into the database, you type in Greenpeace and they come up.
"And that's not the only issue, I mean last night we saw a situation where Deborah Pead's name was right across the TV set and she's done absolutely nothing wrong.
"I mean that's essentially my message to New Zealanders; there's some serious issues for us to consider out of the Panama Papers, the Government takes the issue seriously," he said.
It was a "tragic sullying" of the names of some people.

Key does have a special talent for avoiding the obvious - while he thinks it's a crying shame that Deborah Pead is mentioned while doing nothing wrong, he thinks it is fine to implicate Greenpeace even though their name has been used by others as part of scam - ie absolutely no involvement innocent or otherwise - if I understand it correctly.
    Gamesmanship is not governance.

    Honkey J

Key being his usual odious self.

I hear Bill English has leapt to Key's defence saying it was a case of Key not seeing Speaker Carter standing up, and one has to assume another case of passing deafness - nothing at all about Key acting like a rabid bully in heat while wilfully ignoring basic facts and human decency.
    Nothing unusual there then...
    sigh.
