I am probably stating what has been stated many times previously.
With our children, we teach them to share rather than to be naughty, greedy or inconsiderate. As the guy in that TED link I provided up-thread indicates, teaching them the ethics/morality of their actions is the area that needs a bit of shoring up.....But that's nanny-state type stuff and people don't want that do they.
Putting too much responsibility onto the ISP’s to make a decision about the standard of evidence required and the implementation of action is poor as it concentrates power.

You were outed a while ago in a cryptic manner
russell knew who I was within the first week of me being here, simon did too, I've not denied who I am. I just don't think its relevant.
looking at the last few months of sacha's contribution regarding me I am a little worried. I'm asking if there's a reason for this. its not a pattern I recognise. I'm not being a dick about it, I'm conscious of Finn who I engaged in conversation, and would have done so differently if I'd been aware of his condition. I've been ignoring sacha but its bordering on obsessive. as I said, I don't know the guy, and I don't need to unless its a problem. I'm asking someone to contact me off line if there's a reason, otherwise I'll take it at face value and treat him accordingly.

Stop digging, rob. What you wrote earlier was really not on.

What he said. Rob, you were out of order and you went on and made it worse. And not for the first time. I'm really getting tired of this. You're the one who needs to sort himself out.
Just shut up for a while, please, or at least stay on topic.
(And if you'd been paying attention you'd know that Sacha is not remotely anonymous.)

i do stay on topic, and its the off topic that worries me.,
but both you and giovanni are right, there are better ways to deal with it.
apologies to PA for my mistake. -

Apologise to Sacha.

The problem is education and abuse of the process by, for example, the big 4 music labels and their joint entity the RIAA who have destroyed a generation's trust in process instead of embracing change and finding new ways to work with their customers.
I'm entertained that you didn't mention the wee problem of all these people around the world doing illegal copying and not paying money for it. What Russell said about the two sides talking past each other really is about half of this thread.
-
Thank you Kyle, that's the point I was trying (and failing) to get across.
-
This really is a pain in the ass.
Again, everyone, please exercise and assume good faith in arguing.
I am all too aware that people frequently feel wound up by robbery and I'm seriously appalled by his recent comments, but everyone needs to get on track.
-
Agreed. I was actually encouraging Jon not to rehash an argument, and was not engaging Rob at all. Given that there's nothing wrong with being bipolar, I'm hardly offended by the accusation although personalising this debate has become a problem. I think Rob was right to apologise to all PAS, not specifically to me in this instance.
I do get offended by anyone who shows bad faith, poor reasoning and persistently assumes that the other party is wrong in the face of evidence - but I'm working on my own tolerance levels. Maybe attending a flat earth society meeting or climate denialist conference might help with that? :)
-

Of course. But implying that the problem is that the person you're arguing with has a mental illness is unacceptable, especially in the case of Finn, who's not here to defend himself.
Finn Higgins was one of the sharpest minds we've ever had in this place (and that's saying something) and Rob trying to re-litigate the past by saying that Finn's "condition" was an issue in debates here is truly cheap and shitty.
Tether. Near end of it.
-
Good point. Your patience is fair saintly compared with mine, Russell.
-
Wow. We're going to need #@$%ing tough turbines, Sacha... or some really good safety valves.
-
Okay, Russ. I'll try. Sorry, I was snippy, everyone.

Cross-posted from today's thread
Just a mention on s92A , I just blogged about the officials wanting it deleted after the Select Committee stage
I've put in another bunch of OIA requests, more in hope than expectation.
-
Tremendous post, Mark.
-
Mark, that's a VERY useful blog post.
-
Russell, if you keep repeating what I say like this I'm going to have to dob you in for plagiarism.
-
<blush> thanks
-
Solid stuff, Mark.
Also, my confidence in the perspicuity of our officials is improved.

Power has confidence that the ISPs and TCF will produce the code
Total fizzer :-(

Apologise to Sacha
Correct. I include him in my apology
my comment was out of line, late night, a lot on etc. sorry to everyone again.
and Sacha is correct there is nothing shameful about depression bi polar or otherwise. I was not inferring that in anyway.
back to on topic.
and please, please keep it there.
I can honestly say I've tried to do that, and regret my slip to address what I saw as another personal slight.as Gio experience taking the opposition in a very one-side heavy forum is not easy, and the majority here in this debate aren't all that convivial.

Apologise to Sacha
Thanks.

Interesting blog post Mark. Hope you can bring the dark and murky to light there.
