Thank you, Hilary. I love all these poems (and the way you have framed them), but this one particularly made me me smile:
peace group meeting
the two of them
still sniping

A powerful, peaceful, wonder-ful tribute Hilary. Ngā mihi ki a koe.

A beautiful read from both you and your Mother. And I too love the Peace Group meeting one!

this one particularly made me me smile:
Me too - laughed out loud. Have had a particularly bad morning (getting nothing done) and this was the kind of relief I needed. Amazing how so few words can get across so much...

Lovely writing by both generations.

Just to note - in her originals the poems, particularly the haiku, were mostly centred rather than justified left. Spaces also important as in the one on the Haiku Walkway.

By the way the beginning is actually two unrelated 3-line haiku - so imagine a space between them. My sister reminded me that the first one is about her.

Thanks Hilary. Your mother was such a talented poet - I loved reading these, particularly:
Grandson’s visit
We compare notes
On his parents

And thank you... It is strange how the prickling of tears sometimes isn't related to sadness or bereavement but just to wonder and appreciation... I think I needed to read that today, Hilary, at this time in the world...

This was really lovely to read. Thanks to you, and to your mother.

Not sure how that came out upside down but you get the idea.

Thank you. Hilary, for introducing Jeanette's poetry to more people through this post. It was a lovely piece of writing and worthy of Jeanette's daughter. I never tire of her poems.
-
Thanks Hilary, this is such a nice tribute to the wonderful Jeanette. I was on the Haiku Pathway today with some American visitors and your mum's boulder was admired and photographed.

Thanks for putting all that work into the Green Tea book, Jane. Still some copies left in the garage!

I haven't been there for years. Are the walkway and boulders still in good condition 17 years on?

The committee (we) runs a maintenance programme which the council funds - repainting, repairs to nameplates, moss/lichen cleaning, etc. All tip-top at the moment.
