Whew! So I am at least a year behind in everything! Choice!

utterly rooted, if you will
Now theres a term I haven't heard for a while...in all kinds of contexts...I still snigger childishly when I hear the American usage 'rooting for ya' etc. I am still 12 years old in my head at times.

Islander, in reply to
It's like an American (USA) male introducing himself - and this has happened 4 times with me- "Hi! I'm Randy!"
Geez mate, enough already- -
Tamsin6, in reply to
Snort, yes Randy heh heh heh - I think I just regressed to 10

World of the year?
Well comet really...
You'll be pleased to know
that the recently discovered
Comet Lovejoy survived
yesterday's brush with Mother Sun... -
Steve Barnes, in reply to

Correct Sir. All through the RWC we had a bunch of guys jumping up and down shouting "Comet eh Comet eh rargle rargle"or something.

My fellow Public Address twatcocks, consider the axiom of revealed preference.
By my count, 48 out of 83 comments to this post so far contain or refer to the word 'munted'.

nek munnited surely?

Did munted become common in chch this year? And if so was it through the media or just local spread of word? I can't say I've heard ANYBODY in my Auckland walk of life use it this year. And I'm a Westie (+ Westie high school teacher). I've been using it myself for donkeys years and still use it to imply really drunk or broken but can't say I hear many others use it and I had no idea why it was even on the list until I read posts here.
I went for RWC2011, nek minnit and ghost chips. Cliched, but then that's kind of what this is all about I guess.

Kiss of death then. Like, once I'M IN UR SOMETHING, WHATEVERING YOUR WHATEVER got picked up by academia it was well & truly, um, munted for regular usage.

It may be of interest that 'red-stickered' is currently being increasingly used in Nelson.

So I've noticed, and without the media feeling the need to explain their use of the term. My sympathies, being yellow stickered was more than enough for me.

How quick we forgot but didn't forget....
Arie.

Islander, in reply to
YES.
But he is a person, not a word- -

The Facebook Justice for Arie page is still pretty active.
Somehow I get the impression that he's not interested in being a public face. Good for him. -

Ooops... looks like I'm too late to nominate 'Assholocracy'...
As in, we are living, in the age of the assholocracy. Just witness the Republican contenders for the USA presidency, or the whole Arab Spring thing which has been a process of bringing down assholocracies. Italy suffered under one until recently. Russia and Syria are now protesting against their own crooked assholocracies... and then there's NZ... -
The results are in.
