So what would happen if some brave person quoted all those great words back to ole Jude? Wow!

Sofie Bribiesca, in reply to
Sorry, but it is a direct quote. :-(
Bucket! I knew I'd need it....

Farrar on The Panel this afternoon.
Casting my mind back a few weeks, Michelle Boag was on The Panel.
When asked "" what was on her mind"....answered, along the lines of...
I wonder what Nicky Hager is going to release before the election....?

mpledger, in reply to
She was probably interviewed by Hager about the ACC/Pullar thing so knew something was coming.
-
Myles Thomas, in reply to
Yes and Joyce is probably working out how they can sneak the Conservatives an electorate seat after all.

How can the satirists compete any more? Check out this press release from Judith Collins:

Just....wow.
Making it an offence to send messages and post material online that is grossly offensive, indecent, obscene, menacing or knowingly false, punishable by up to 3 months imprisonment or a $2,000 fine.
Creating a new offence of incitement to commit suicide, even in situations when a person does not attempt to take their own life, punishable by up to 3 years imprisonment.
Self-awareness, clearly not a requirement for office.

the ACC/Pullar thing
about that....now there was a 'leak' of somewhat mythical proportions....
The whole thing had a stench about it....IMHO, FWIW,

Today he started to ask Farrar to, I think, to name these nasty Left bloggers but Farrar just plowed over with his spin of justification – for a long long time.
At the end where there was about 15 minutes left, Jim asked what they were thinking about recently. Chris Wikaira shot back a short piece then Farrar then began a loooong diatribe about an article in the ODT about calories being advertised at the counters of fast food outlets for nigh on the full time left until 5pm. A classic filler piece to take the opportunity to prevent further question of his "recent thoughts".

I am finding this quote:
Time’s up. Your behaviour is not acceptable
from the Right Honourable (Tui ad tagline) Judith Collins especially piquant.Would that she see the connection and offer herself up as the first proof that the policy might actually work?

Good point. You're very probably right.

Sacha, in reply to
Michelle Boag was on The Panel
far too often

Lilith __, in reply to
If she were to leak damaging information about John Key a month before an election and were responsible for destroying National’s election chances, she’d be destroying her own reputation as well as her party’s. Career suicide.
Judith Collins does not have a political future on planet earth. Her reputation is gone, no one will trust her again. If she doesn't go now, the National government crashes and burns along with her.

Self-awareness, clearly not a requirement for office.
Or as Tricky Dick Nixon once put it, "it's not illegal when the President's doing it."

Steve Parks, in reply to
From the w.oil link:
There is something vulnerable and helpless about her, and I have this soft spot for women like her in a kitten or puppy rescue kind of way.
Wow. All class. By "class" I mean pathetic misogynist.

I'd like to think so. But Key and National have a problem here: they went so hard with the "nothing to see here" and "dissolving before his eyes" response to Hager's book, that Key is not really in a position to back down much at all, let alone concede such a huge blow as dumping a Minister. It would undermine the very argument that they've been making. This is why he was so reluctant to even criticise her at all - the "unwise" characterisation was very begrudging. Unless there's something else wrt Collins, I'd be very surprised if they don't charge on regardless.

Looking lovely in a Charnel outfit...
the Right Honourable (Tui ad tagline) Judith Collins
will the Honourable (yeah Right) Jusdith Minister Judas Collins...
...lead those other National sheep up the ramp to the abattoir -
A S, in reply to
That is pretty damning in light of her role in this whole thing.
Wonder if you've just found the media their line of questioning for the day? Lots of potential questions there about integrity, judgement, and suitability for office.

Name calling...
Not content with getting her own way against all odds in Parliament, Judith Collins has named a new lane in the Chchch Justice & Emergency Precinct after a friend from Auckland...A feature of the precinct will be a lane formally named the
Justice Sir Robert Chambers Lane, in honour of former
Supreme Court Judge Sir Robert Chambers who passed
away in May 2013.source
understandably the locals and local law society are not impressed.I also suspect it contravenes the CCC's guidelines for naming new streets - something that is supposed to be down to them to ultimately decide ...
...or did Judith and Gerry Brownlee just ride over any objection? -
The buck stops here...
The Herald captures the zeitgeist, and labels a picture of Key and Brownlee as "Nats' spending creeps" - how apt!
;- ) -
actually "It's a giant left wing conspiracy" paste up on Tui bill.boards would go down well right now
-
CJM,
Interesting that the Herald have stopped all reader comments on any political stories the past couple of days….

Waiting for someone in the media scrum to challenge Key on his ‘left-wing smear campaign to avoid talking about policy’ line.
A smear is when you spread stories and rumours that you can’t back up. Allegations backed up by evidence are not smears.
A campaign is orchestrated; the ‘left-wing’ is primarily Labour and the Greens; and they are the ones who might otherwise be debating policy, so there’s an implication they are involved. If Key has evidence of this, he should be asked to provide it.
Because on all the evidence we’ve seen Labour and the Greens are keen to talk policy, and have nothing to do with Hager’s book or ‘whaledump.’
Which makes Key’s assertion a smear.
Accusing your opponent of doing what you are doing yourself is a classic Rovian tactic. But in this case not hard to challenge. Yet Key gets reported, and so far as I’ve heard, no one has even asked Cunliffe for a response.
We can do better :) -
John Armstrong refers to the "huge cracks" starting to appear in the National Party's "it's all lies" defence to Hager's book.
In resolutely defending the indefensible - especially when the indefensible is as well-documented as it is in Hager's book - John Key was not only starting to sound and look rather silly, but he risked eating into stocks of one of his most valuable commodities - the degree of trust he has built up with large portions of the electorate.
And readers comments are enabled on this one.

Herald website this morning has nothing for the first 7-8 stories and then recycled Judith Collins story after that. Of more importance are; Lorde takes up yoga, couple propose on springy ride thing, crocodile eats man in Oz, meat hook in the head and a few other newsy bits. Nothing to see here . . .
