But you see, some of us live for opportunities to use a priori in real life situations. It's just how we perceive we roll.

I see golden opportunities every day, but I resist - I don't want to devalue the word to the point where management will use it.

Awesome! I missed that thread at the time but I will treasure the concept of proletarian falafel forever!

I rather think that post might be ultra vires.

When I find out what that means, I'll let you know.

Being in management, I can tell you it’s already too late. Who knew? ;-)

    [Did you see that coming?]

Yezbut, perception is reality, so I think, therefore we good?

Oh, Sam, I had almost forgotten. Let's you and I make a solemn vow, right here and right now, that we will never let 'a priori conception of [noun]' die. :)

Happily agreed. I find it impossible to read food/drink related threads here without thinking of it.

Actually, left Laneways before they played as my back started to remind me standing up for 8 hours is for the kids.

Us too. But it was really nice to hear them playing live via bFM when we got home.

  • Jackie Clark,

Granny Herald's been eavesdropping on this conversation. I can think of no other reason for this article.

I cannot make a chickpea based dish without wondering how bourgeois it is.

  • Jackie Clark, in reply to Isabel Hitchings,

I have discovered a wonderful white bean dip - I make it all the time and I don't care how bourgeois it is. It's easy to make, yummy to eat, and very very good for you. And that's all I care about.

OMG, I had also forgotten the genius of Stephen's bourgeois legume croquettes as discussed in the Leguminous Ontology Review! I should have that tattooed on me somewhere so I never lose it again...

I certainly don't think I've seen the word 'esculence' anywhere else since.

    Leguminous Ontology Review!

Personally I look for the works of Lentilus Maximus, MD, particularly on checking for pulse.

Yes, yes, I’m just trying to ride on the coat tails, but that was so extremely awesome, it is definitely worth a revisit. Perhaps there should be a ‘brag wall of extreme awesomeness’.

No I had not. And therefore, given the irrefutable confluence between the two, right down to the checking for pulse, I can categorically claim a priori knowledge, bro.

It's way worse if you've bought dried chickpeas and soaked them.

Ah, that would be the Standard Cookbook. I've always found them a bit dry.

Ahh yes war stories from one's lentil hunting days. In my day (like how I say that) everyone was flocking to Le Puy to wrestle these fearsome creatures.

Yep. That was my pot of home-grown Jersey Bennies too. Just enough for one meal for one! (Probably too hot in Auckers for them.)

  • Ben Austin,

I'm sure I've seen articles like that in the Herald linked above - they seem to be a regular feature of Australian/NZ newspapers.
