AS an alternative to Road Cops you could try this thing I stumbled upon...
LyngSat Stream has public links to 4441 linear TV channels
and 3276 linear radio channels transmitting on internet
Beats fumbling round TV3's webshite or any "Ondemand" nonsense.
And it is so Random ;-) -
My apologies if someone has linked to this story by Rachel Stewart before, but it's one of the nicest pieces I've read throughout this debate.
-
The last two nights of Campbell Live have been particularly good. Oh what fools TV3 have been.
-
Viewers may hve noticed that TV3 have hastily changed their self-ads, those "for me it's three" jingles.
Samantha Hayes used to tell us she liked to watch John Campbell. And Campbell used to plug Jono and Ben.
But JC has not only left the building, he's been airbrushed out of the "family" photos as well. Presumably next week the voiceover will be Paul Henry saying he loves Road Cops.

I wouldn’t expect it to be great in a journalistic sense, but there’s already precedent for doing more or less this, with The Project on Channel Ten, which is overloaded with comedians on the payroll thanks to Melbourne’s comedy scene. The format would surely appeal to much of the audience currently watching Seven Sharp.
…and then despite its general flippancy, the Project comes up with stuff like this (facebook video, sorry), which if anything demonstrates just how much a group of Channel 10 on-staff comedians can produce a result more similar to what Campbell Live used to aim for, yet would probably never see the light of day on Seven Sharp in its current state.

For what it's worth, the Press Council has censured the Herald for Glucina's attack on Amanda Bailey. The Herald summarises the Press Council decision but appears to make no apology to Bailey. I'm surprised that the Herald didn't resort to the obvious defence that Glucina isn't actually a journalist. We live in strange times.
Kudos to Giovanni Tiso and the others who made complaints.

I think it's pretty clear that would be the decent thing to do now.

John Campbell made a brief return to TV last night at the end of the Crowd's Gone Wild (before going on to some Sky sport thing). He made a couple of little digs at authority http://m.nzherald.co.nz/entertainment/news/article.cfm?c_id=1501119&objectid=11474779

If this happened in Scandinavia, the Herald would find its wallet a fair bit lighter.

Ms Glucina’s reported friendship with the Prime Minister did not give rise to a conflict of interest. There is no question of any compromise of her independence or that of the NZ Herald
Yep, Pravda is an independent publication.
-
Another Herald gossip columnist has demonstrated her suitability to fill Glucina's shoes. Commenting on the deaths of Ashburton mum Cindy George and her three children who were killed by car fumes, Pebbles Hooper described the tragic deaths as "natural selection".
The Herald certainly knows how to pick em.

Alfie linked to a Stuff article because the Herald has ignored it.
It beggars belief that this person is paid by the Herald to write anything. If that organisation has any kind of ethical standards, this should be instant dismissal.

They *promoted* the editor who sanctioned Glucina. What's a little eugenics between pals?

It's not a bad thing if the Herald has suddenly decided that "somebody is obnoxious on social media" is no longer automatic front page news.
But every other day, that's exactly what the Herald decides. So I don't think their decision here is based on a new commitment to higher editorial standards.
Happy to be proved wrong, so let's see what happens with the next sports jock or actor or ... any other "celeb" who is not employed by the Herald.

It's also made TV1. TV3 hasn't yet covered it, only the Ashburton deaths.

Once again, it reinforces the case for a Scandinavian Press Council structure. Journalistic misconduct would then start becoming expensive.

Wasn't the Greaseball running a crusade a while back against people with stupid names?

Pebbles Hooper
The fruit doesn't fall far from the tree, it seems...
judging by various interminable and intolerable 'The Panel (RNZ)' appearances by Denise 'truth L'estranger than fiction'-Corbet...Maybe this explains it?
-
This just in: Pebbles Hooper has cut & run from Twitter.

It’d also be good if they don’t decide to start presenting these sorts of things as entertainment ether.
Well, we know their intent is to provide for the lowest common denominator but this stuff we are seeing these days would be an insult to the intelligence of the most subhuman moron.
-
Surprise... the Herald now has a small apology from Pebbles Hooper, although you have to search on her name to find it. It sounds like the oddly named gossip columnist is just misunderstood.
I never aimed to target or isolate this issue to one family.
Of course you didn't Pebbles. Quite obviously it was aimed at the numerous other families killed by CO from car exhausts in recent memory. All zero of them.

Or "target audience" in Herald and TV3 parlance.

’Pebbles' suggests an entity with all the insight of a very small rock
