What do we want?
Moderation.
When do we want it?
In a reasonable time frame. That is fucking good.

That one made me giggle when I saw it in Sofie's post, Sacha.
O struth, I think I've used up my ration of giggles & laughs & snickering for the next month or so...

The meta is strong with this one...

"I have a sign", that's even better.

Jacqui:
I guess my disquiet about this whole mess is the horrid effect fear had on everyone. Finger-pointing, accusations, and a seeming willingness to believe the worst of others - it gathered momentum and became a national panic. Sides were taken, volleys sent off. I loathed that. At this point, I wish for calm and sober thoughts on this subject, and I know, on this blog at least (can't say I've managed more than the occasional dip into others) there are some thoughtful and measured responses, so feel pretty optimistic about the future.
And the rest of what you said: that was a lovely post - thanks.

Maybe John Key needs to have a highly publicised beer with Peter Jackson and Helen Kelly. I think Obama should have kept that idea rolling.

I liked Bogor better
-
Bogor was great. The Listener carried it from memory.

Stoned hedgehogs and snails as I recall, I've no idea which reli was feeding me those books, but they made a lasting impression.
-
In an ambivalent relationship too!
Thanks very much for that site chris!
Never knew it existed until your post- -
Neither, until your post ; )

I don't know why he gave up, but maybe he needed a break.
Watterson fought for many years to prevent the commercialisation of his comic creations, something tremendously difficult for a cartoonist who tend to sign away all rights over their creations in order to get them published - including allowing other people to create them once they stop doing so. He had a wonderful outlook on his cartoons and their purpose - the final Calvin and Hobbes cartoon is my favourite ever - Calvin and Hobbes sledding off to new adventures.
He gave up Calvin and Hobbes because he felt he couldn't achieve any more in the cartooning format. He's done some painting and has been very reclusive since.

Has anyone considered the use of an iPlacard, or even iMosaics (on a stadium scale, that is)? Apple just needs to make a bigger version sooner or later.
-
Kyle Mattehws - in the final farewell statement I read from Watterson, he mentioned getting back to real painting...but there was this hint about -2? 3? years ago? that he would take up cartooning again.
-
I'm also reminded of Al Lowe, the creator of the Leisure Suit Larry game series. He's on record saying he wanted to create a new Larry game - trouble is, he doesn't own the rights - Sierra On-Line's successor company does. The most recent in the series (since Magna Cum Laude) had no involvement of Lowe, and it showed.

Erm. This
none would never
is rubbish. The result of changing a word earlier on. And not proof-reading. Ah well......Not the first, nor probably the last.
G'night. Sweet dreams.

Here there be tygers...
Bloody cats
Philosophy is well within their purr view...
Let's get metaphysical... the union of beings
paleoleft
didn't those pale ontologists discover a "Hobbit"
in Java recently? (well maybe a few years back...)
Probably just a case of primordial wharfieism!Which came first...
...as one of the better parts of that particular egg, Parson.
...next we'll have chicken's with Curate's noses!
that rarebit's an omen Nemo...
...back to, and including, Winsor McCay.
hope you checked out Gordon Campbells piece on McCay's political cartoons in the latest Werewolf - fine stuff.
Snail space...
Bogor was great. The Listener carried it from memory.
While some think Bogor carried The Listener
-
McCay is one of my inspirations. "Litlle Nemo" is total out-there futzed fantasy - and I only discovered McCay 5 years ago...
And Ian D (damn! the cloning process hasnt seemed to have worked!)
I think both cartoon series carried "The Listener" until it turned into a twee wank mag. After that, who cares?
-
Really guys could you get over yourselves already, give the rest of us a break. ;)
Bloody Hobobits,they are everywhere! -
Pinchandapunch, Sofie.
