I’ve been waiting for a nice, clear morning to get up early and go down to the Manukau for some golden light, but no, Auckland’s weather will not cooperate, presenting instead this grey fug every morning. So I went down anyhow this morning to see what I could do in B&W with grey grey light.

  • Carol Green,

I love the grey light! Looks weird and eerie and a bit prehistoric.

Great Jos. Found a similar church in the archives, on my favourite Awhitu peninsula.

    With an eyrie interior.

Church from my travels yesterday! Islander will know where it is. :-)
(also it’s in the image title)
    So beautifully kept.

I'm having lots of fun trying to find the limits of what the hard- and software can do to the pictures before I turn them all to rotten custard.

    My first response: scary image.

My second response: Oh, hang on, I helped my father in law put asbestos roofing tiles on what was once his sheep pen.

We probably could, but this is the end of my holy orders.

Another church, Awhitu Peninsula, 1989. Thought I’d posted these here before, but couldn’t find them. So apologies if I have.

ETA: Had to try match your triptych Lilith, which is stunning. :-)

Why thank you! And yours is beautiful. Another tiny and perfectly-kept church! Mine at Moeraki is a small immaculate form in a large and rugged landscape.

    Of course I thought:
    I am a little church(no great cathedral) :-)

Beautiful, David! I love the boat marooned in the mud particularly.

Thanks. I was taking my daughter out to get picked up by a boat, and said "I'm stopping to take a photo of that boat as I come back".

My Great great great great grandfather's house he built in Longford, Tasmania. Just visited it. The middle two story bit is the original part. The inside is still beautifully finished and original.
