Hey Jackson, really nice pictures : ) And I see Kurt Vile has a face behind all that hair. I had a great day with the Outsiders. Free to come and go as I pleased, and plenty of good stuff to photograph too.... coming up shortly.....

Cat Power was vulnerable, off-kilter, erratic - but a beautiful voice and fragile presence. So glad I got to see and hear her play.

We’d run out of steam by then, so glad to hear it went down well. Was listening from home on the 96bFM broadcast. Sounded pretty good.
This view form on the gantry. Strange little Visa promo, but was nice to look over the whole scene.

High Hoops in the Thunderdome was an afternoon treat. He makes great, funky nu disco tracks - and he sings over them live. Joyous and fun.

The promoters left bubble wands around the site for people to play with. Nice touch.

Some shoulder-riding women in the sunset during the annoyingly-named-but-actually-quite-good Chvrches.

And of course, taking pictures of the sunset seems obligatory on this waterfront site. From the Friends & Family bar, looking over towards the Cactus Cat stage.

We saw the end of Chvrches. Loved-up pop, a little bombastic at times, but boy, was their crowd up for it.

And speaking of up-for-it crowds, Haim's was pretty large. And enthusiastic. I wish I could have seen their set from somewhere other than 3/4 of the way back behind an eight foot tall dude, but that's the way of it for we shorties.

Kurt Vile and The Violators. Perfect time of the day on the right stage. Guitar music with a cold beer in hand as the sun beamed down.

I *know*, that was really appalling. I think the sound for all three hiphop acts I saw was lacking. They were all doing their best but it was pretty muffled and it affected things quite a lot.
(I did like being in the "waiting for Kurt Vile" half of the crowd while Earl Sweatshirt was playing. So many solemn, concerned faces looking over at him! He even came over and said at one point: "Peace to the dad community. I respect y'all. Keep doing what you're doing." Ha.)

Only went to Laneway to see Cat Power, and I wasn't disappointed:

We started the day with Doprah who were a nice surprise, ended it with Cat Power who was enchanting. Acts of the day for us were Savages, Parquet Courts, UMO & Watercolours. Tired but happy customers.
