This is Scamper who is not living up to his name, but is taking a nap on the strawberries. As nice much as we like strawberries, Cat > Food

The little guy likes to be within structures… here in the Cone of Silence

That is a seriously great bit of cropping.

Omigod … here we go. The first picture of Colin (taken last night by Fiona) is a bit of a Maru tribute. But Colin is prettier than Maru.

O hai, Colin! He's making that bag look very stylish.

I remember we discussed a while back the cat corialis effect, and what the different direction of curl might indicate.

Christmas care packages: food for the humans, a box for the cat.

This reminds me - one Christmas my dad was sent a hamper that came in a wooden box packed with sawdust. Within minutes of the goodies being taken out of the box, one of the cats had repurposed it as a litter tray.

My brother and I once came up with a taxonomy of different cat positions. All I can remember was the donut and the power donut. The power donut involved curling up into a circle while still standing, then flopping down sideways to ensure a really tight donut was maintained.

yes, I know the power donut, it requires the aerial fall to achieve that extreme tightness of curl that enable tail across eye

Although I am very much a dog person at heart, by god these are some fine looking cats.

Yes, you've all made me want to get a cat, just so I can take awesome photos of them. This is no mean feat.

    Cone of Silence

That is a such a perfect shot.

    Oh no it isn’t.

Our first cat, Bean. She died after being hit by a car outside our house, soon after this photo was taken, aged 1. Always special, and dearly missed to this day. Kelburn, Wellington, 1997.

    Top to bottom you have:
The 17-year-old sweetheart who adopted us at our previous flat.
We now have three SPCA specials. Candy is as neurotic as the average calico.
Boomer (big cat) is a 7.5kg bruiser, and the sweetest, talkiest cat I have ever been owned by. Yes, he's sitting on Tigra.
Tigra isn't very bright. This is generally her favourite position when I'm at my desk.

This is Boadecia sitting on my knee last night. She's 14 and diabetic. On Sunday night she had a low blood sugar episode and almost died. She's spending most of her time at the vet getting her dosage adjusted but was allowed home for a visit last night.

And this is Artemis. She lurvs her couch. However, we really should have known better than to name her after the goddess of the hunt as she is now living up to her name.

He also skins and sleeps on his rivals. Fair warning!

BTW Robyn this is gonna be the kitteh thread of doom, you know that, don't you?? I don't think the internet can take the strain.

Gorgeous Artemis and her lurv for her couch :)

Here's my partner in crime, Buddha, in his favourite pose:

His head resting on my leg while I work on my laptop - watching me intently.

Sometimes in this mode he will move his head slightly and move the magnet on his collar close enough so that my laptop goes into standby mode. This ensures he gets the attention, rather than the laptop. :)
