some of the comments here on abortion are a bit silly. Actually really silly. Isn't it possible to be rational and stick to facts rather than emotions . Of course, it would help if more of you actually read every word of the court judgement.

If you say that the current abortion legislation was written thirty years ago by a pack of geriatric religious males in an insufficiently representative parliament, what role does public officials have in drafting legislation? hoe do you know they were whilte male religiousl tossers huh!Anyways the problem with the law is that it is religiously broken . And, yeah Stephen, I'm fine with the speed limit, if you break it and get caught, you get fined. If you break the abortion laws, nothing happens.
Like smacking, and electoral finance laws, and years ago, gay sex, ther is no consequence for breaking the law.
Finally if the Abortion Supervisory committee was notaware of its powers, whatthe hell is it doing? Scrap it. -
So Russell, do you think it was a bit silly for Right to Life to go to court to open this " can of worms"?
Or do you think it is fine to break the law as long as the majority of the public agree ( or dont care). -
.. they still can, as a list vote, just like Maori who are on the General roll can.
If electorate seats are abolished there will be less effective representation for everyone, as nobody will have an MP and there will be fewer Maori in Parliament.
If you have one vote to vote for either the list or any candidate on that list, what if your favoured MP is not from your favoured party?your system dilutes electorate representation which is far worse than MMP or FPP.

Of course they`re not delivering anything for NZ Music Month this year - Brendan Smyth is not even in the country at the mo - the NZ Music Commission is runing the show pretty much without NZOA. D`you knmow why, Russell? -
Oh and Rich, no, you don't have to live in NZ to be classed as a Kiwi musician. Shihad opened NZ Music month last year, I think, flying over from Aussie to do so.

Rich, funny you should say that, but Steve's my favourite NZ Musician as well. I knew him pretty well when he was a retailer. I wonder if Judith Tizard even knows who he is?
