  • Hard News: Medical Matters,

Not sure if anybody else noticed it, but apparantely in the USA now to activate your iPhone you will HAVE to go to an AT&T store.

Might stifle the hackers some, but will be interesting to see. I just wish we had more widespread wifi around, because even 3g is going to be slow - and not great for any VoIP applications that get released.

Oh; and a question for anyone with a Mac - have you been able to get 3 News' live stream to go? Im stuck watching One News and its driving me mental.

Im sure i've got Flip4Mac installed correctly, but whenever I go to their live page nothing happens even though the player loads. It seems it could be similar to RadioNZ's setup, so I might see if Radio NZ's tips about using VLC could be used as well.

  • Speaker: Conditioning for Conditioning…,

I like Grant Fox's suggestion too, the report did seem to indicate that the conditioning failed in part because it couldn't be scheduled at the best possible time due to all of our competing tournaments.

I've been posting this everywhere lately, but I am totally over the 'should have gone for a drop goal and we'd have won' argument - while I don't doubt we should have tried, according to the IRB stats only 7% of attempts in the finals stage actually succeeded; so we'd likely still have lost anyway!

And call me a bad loser, but I still find it completely absurd that the All Blacks can set a world record for rucks created in an international game and not be awarded a single penalty in the 2nd half. Why is it that it was acceptable for bagging the ref for the Hurricanes game a few weeks ago, yet when you suggest that the officials were poor in that quarter-final you're somehow making excuses for the ABs?

  • Hard News: They don't make 'em like they…,

One feature which looks cool but hasn't turned out to be much use to me is that you can select part of a page and have it display, live, in Dashboard.

This sounds really good to me too, i've used it to take a clipping of the metservice forecast for Wellington as that's more accurate than the other weather widgets i've seen. Works good, but im not sure what else I will use it for.

  • Hard News: All your copyright are belong…,

If you're getting given such things as XBoxes & Playstations for your job have you received the AppleTV Mark II?

I'd love to know whether its cool or not. (And yes I am an Apple fanboy so my standards are probably lower).

Making Napalm is all well and good

Yikes, that sounds more relaxed about it than I meant to, god I love Friday.

  • "The Terrorism Files",

I don't know the chemistry or anything, but didn't Buchanan say that at least the ingredients of napalm are common farming stuff?

Starting in the early 1990s, various websites including The Anarchist Cookbook advertised recipes for homemade napalm. These recipes were predominantly equal parts gasoline and styrofoam.

    From:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Napalm

Which doesn't sound like its hard to make eh? Actually, come to think of it, im pretty sure we were investigating a napalm-like method to get rid of some gorse on our farm back in the day.

Making Napalm is all well and good, but from what I understand without an effective delivery mechanism not massively useful.

I also would have thought that in some ways it's worse that there are no names (although I can see why they would have to leave them out) because then those statements could stick to any one of the accused.

I thought that to, the DomPosts justifications for publishing felt pretty weak to me. Its also incredibly frustrating to have such a small snippet of the information, without context. I would much rather read all the evidence with names & dates included, than 1 page of quotes.

Im still not sure I can go beyond deciding that some people said some dumb/somewhat scary stuff & some people did some dumb/scary stuff.

  • Speaker: It's the recrimination I don't…,

Kyle - I actually feel sorry for Mr Barnes now, in hindsight perhaps he should not have been appointed to the game.

One thing I dont understand is why the TMO can't get more involved. I wouldn't recommend that they stop the ref to advise of infringments as the game goes on; however when there is a break in play surely the TMO could mention that one team seems to be offside, or seems to have hands in the ruck, or seems to be boring in at scrum time. Just give the Ref a heads up about some things to look at. Its madness that with all the technology at our disposal we really don't proactively help the guy in the middle.
