  • 2010: The Cultural YTD,

the fruit doesn't fall far from the tree...

Penguin's 3rd strike. Are they out yet?

    They can't be sentenced...
    they don't acknowledge words
    ...or is that a stretch?

    Curious Orange...
    The Penguincubator is...
    novel...

    I wonder how the Penguincinerator
is going with those earlier books...?

  • 2010: The Cultural YTD,

    Prepare to meta your maker...
a lighthouse is a high point...
and the long overdue local (VUP)
    reprint of Dylan Horrocks' Hicksville
    (graphic metafiction at its finest)
is a towering beacon of local culture
    and its diverse antecedents.

  • Cracker: Cup of Tea and a new Electoral System,

I was intrigued by Cameron's comment on the news tonight (the Joint News Conference)
    - along the lines of -
"This is a new era in British government which will look out for the interests of the country, not the party." </loose recreation of quote I can't find..>
    but... but... oh!

  • Pass the crisps: UK Election watch,

I recommend the Young Turk Key cutlets...

Although I personally wouldn't order this dish again, my dining companions seemed eager to go for seconds, although this might have had more to do with the lack of a credible alternative on the menu.

What, you didn't go for the Just Des(s)erts?

Key was well out of line with that "joke"
I wonder if he was just trying to take the heat
off his appalling "diplomacy by media"
    over the Tuhoe negotiations....
Respect is a two way street and
he just threw his into heavy traffic!

    Back to the fu(rni)ture then
    and the corner less satin...

  • Pass the crisps: UK Election watch,

    Apple pie bed...

Still. Beds, lying in, and all that.

    but can they lie straight?
and how flammable are these bunks?

    Nancy buoys the spirit....
    in the pursuit of love
    the very Fabrice of society
    can be rent asunder....

and it did all end in tears,
    dulling!

  • Hard News: Everyone's a critic,

Cue voiceover: "In New Zealand, we don't like to make a fuss - we leave that to Russell Brown ..."

    Ever vigilant, Russell stands tall,
defending us from "turd world" status...

  • Hard News: Everyone's a critic,

    Game-off stigma or gamine enigma....

Oh, I didn't send it back.
I'm a New Zealander. We don't like to make a fuss.

    Our nation needs more pleasant
    & plucky, pheasant chuckers!
    Many happy returns...

  • Up Front: The Up Front Guide: Dressing…,

    You're one sophist-I-cato'd fella.

    Soffit-stuck Katydid, surely
    ie: an under-arch stridulator
    now that is cricket!
    Daylight rubbery and all...

Now the question is, are you CatoElder or CatoMinor?

neither Censor nor suicidal-Stoic am I
and Dionysius may keep you in distichs
for a couplet minutes or two, but cantos aside, there's Pliny more where they came from...

So yes, the playing's the heart of the thing,
to cater to that I cleave to CatoSuzy!

  • Pass the crisps: UK Election watch,

And what's with the fag end for an avatar?

I was gonna say it might mean
    The butt stops here!
but now I see it is merely a
    fickle collie form

    the gravity of heavenly bodies

    Who needs philosophy (or history)
when we have fellas fulla sophistry
I know 'cos I am that fallacy...
