  • OnPoint: Wolfram Alpha: Tech journos FAIL,

It’s a knowledge base for machines. And it’s a really important building block to allow machines to understand things about the real world. This would, in turn and in time, allow us to understanding more things about the world.

Viral marketing. Sounds like skynet. It'll become self-aware just in time for the release of the latest Terminator movie, mark my words.

  • Speaker: Re-Entry III: The Eagle has Landed,

This month's Metro magazine would have you believe that Auckland is a thriving cultural nirvana, though perhaps not quite on the scale of London or New York.

  • Hard News: The Public Bad,

Who is Parliament's ISP? Heaps of copyright violations on that den of piracy...

(I'm serious. Pass a bad law, get hoist by it. And then they'd call it contempt...)

TelstraClear I think... I heard via a mate that they were joking that they'd cut off the internet for Parliamentary Services if someone were to accuse them of copyright infringement... that would be hilarious.

  • Cracker: Narked,

That sounded glorious. I always seem to miss the good stuff when I'm diving: manta rays, turtles, nudibraches. Ever since The Silent One, I've always wanted to ride a turtle underwater.

  • OnPoint: Don’t let them eat cake,

crushing cars seems so wasteful. can't we de-pimp and sell them?

  • Random Play: BDO: Field of Dreams (and Nightmares),

Did anyone see Weta play? They clashed with Arctic Monkeys and Hot Chip so I missed them.

I don't really get why everyone's bagging the Living End in particular... alright they're a bit bland, but they played competently and they swing a huge double bass around. Rocknroll?

I was disappointed with TV on the Radio too. It's a shame they didn't play a club show in Auckland while they were here, they probably would've sold out.

Hot Chip were my fave of the day, almost as good as LCD last year.

  • Hard News: Prospects,

PS our work election straw poll of 111 people today produced almost exactly the same result as the national polls: ~44% nats, 6% act, 1.7% united, 10% green 4% bill & ben, and i forget the rest

  • Hard News: Prospects,

    Hey, uh, slightly off-topic

When do they have to take the election hoardings down? I was thinking they look ideal for sliding down the wet grassy slopes of the domain.

I think a Libertarianz sign would be most appropriate
