  • Hard News: So what now?,

Its quite amazing watching this debate, as an ex Aucklander, from outside Auckland.
    I will say this..
The bubble will burst when enough Auckland home owners realise they could move to the sticks and retire on the “value” of their property. Thing is is that the bubble will continue until that tipping point is reached and people always want more, they will hang in there until they see others leaving and prices dropping, that maybe triggered by all this hysteria and that could cause the biggest housing crash that NZ has seen since Christchurch..
Its a gamble for those that see the opportunity, when do you sell?.
First out, best dressed, as it were.
For others, those that love Auckland more than their actual life, they are just waiting for the day that they can get a Ponsonby Villa for less than 100 grand again.
It depends on how many tell the wood from the trees.

  • OnPoint: Yeah nah, but what *do* we…, in reply to Paul Campbell,

I went to my wife’s citizenship ceremony – she swore to the current crown and all her legal heirs ….

I will have been in this country for 30 years next Thursday.
All this time I have wondered why I should have to swear allegiance to the Monarch of the country I chose to leave. I must add that I quite like the Queen, she bakes awfully nice scones, it was more the handbag wielding, war mongering monetarist, Union smashing, monster Margaret Hilda Thatcher (nee Roberts), the grocer's daughter from Grantham, that encouraged me to emigrate.

  • OnPoint: Yeah nah, but what *do* we…, in reply to Ian Dalziel,

I’d imagine there were some deep pockets amongst their members and supporters.

I wonder why you think that, you pinko unwashed arty type…
    ;-)

I had to post a comment on the YouTube site just in case foreigners thought our country stupid.

Feel free to add your own comments on the YouTube site…/ ;-)
    Many, many of them…

Wonder what kid of flag related ‘dead cats’ will be thrown into the pre-voting debate?
…and who will throw the first one?

Kid of Flag? Is that John Key?...
Nah, I know what you meant and I have had several thoughts along those lines.
I doubt if the TPP will be that cat.
It will, in my less than humble opinion, be how the omnipotent Key fights the Aussie dragon of Kiwi rights in that big brown land, how he single handedly, with the help of his oh so talented son the DJ Musician, charmed the Monstrous Malcolm into caring about human rights.

Deep down as long as we are alive and thriving the other people can just go to hell?

I thought that was National's Policy.

Little was responding, at the time with no background information and correctly said...

"Totally unacceptable, this is a community occasion where we commemorate and reflect on a great tragedy,"

If it had been a "rent a crowd anti TPP" type "scumbag" then yes... unacceptable.

Had Mr. Little known the man's circumstances I think his response would have been different.
    So...

(Hint – don’t presume to judge or talk down to people who may have experienced something you plainly didn’t).

Surely it can't be long before the supporters of the wealthy few realise that they are not included in the dream?.
