  • Hard News: Friday Music: Dancing Fool,

Any definition of "dancing fool" needs to include the final scene in Claire Denis' film Beau Travail.

Here is Denis Lavant dancing by himself to Rhythm of the Night:

  • Hard News: Event Season, in reply to BenWilson,

I really don’t buy that our basic unit of short term life organization, the week, should have anything to do with the moon, and even if it did, why pick the particular division we did?

    Because Genesis 2:2

And on the seventh day God ended his work which he had made; and he rested on the seventh day from all his work which he had made.

but we also need an infrastructure for recharging because a 100K range...

Yep, but that’s just a matter of time and uptake. The technology is in actual use right now in a lot of places. As an example here is a map of charging stations across Sweden, Norway, Finland and Denmark.

The discussion here around pop, and Miley in particular, brings to mind this post by Graham Reid a while ago Police. Security. Screams. A singer comes to town if you substitute Miley for Bieber.

Like. Wow “In moments of crisis, pulling out a Bible can provide our service men and women with reassurance and strength, he said.”

We had those when I was in the armed forces. The ones we had didn't have that waterproof paper, which was lucky, because then we wouldn't have been able to use hem for:

    a. kindling
    b. toilet paper (in moments of true crisis)

    true story.

    and assessing cultural fit?

I have mentioned this before, but this was basically why I recommended this one guy not get a job on my team because he admitted that he followed Coronation Street.

(He did get the job and I am happy to concede that I was totes wrong.)

This is more evidence for my Grand Unifying Theory of HR, which is that it is the devil’s work and should be flung into a fiery abyss.

Tru tru. Ever since Personnel became Human Resources they have aquired a sense of importance which doesn't match reality.

I've done a few of these tests myself and it's just complete bollocks. Personnel may as well engage the services of a good astrologer.
