  • Hard News: New on the Street,

I live in the centre of Christchurch and am connected to the main exchange. I'm lucky to see 3Mbps on a broadband test.
But the thing that really gets me is that the exchange has been upgraded to ADSL2 and I have a compliant router, but I'm still stuck on ADSL1 and no word about when they are going to turn it on.
I'm so sick of getting my arse handed to me in COD4 because my opponent saw me a second before I saw them and not being able to hit them because they are actually metres away from where they appear on my screen.
Which reminds me, what is the upload speed of ADSL2, since xbox 360 games are peer to peer, not hosted through a server?

  • Hard News: Leaving the bunker,

Merc - Any idea why the yanks were using an AK47 (wooden stock) at the end?

Think they were Iraqi soldiers. Marines get the expensive toys. Iraqis just get cheap knock offs.

Hmmm....ok....absolutely.... on my life... I swear I saw BSG series 3 box set at whitcolls, while I was doing my christmas shopping. I was going to get it, but I had already spend far too much on myself and thought it would be out at the video store.
Might have to go back there and check this afternoon.

Is anyone on that fragging show not a toaster?
Or is that the plot for series 5, they discover that they are really toaster experiment.

I think you're expected to be genuinely repentant, and not planning on committing the same sin again in the immediate future.

Yeah that's the bit, besides the believing stuff, that I just don't get. They create all these outs for themselves then make like they are not to take advantage of them.

Always wondered how a Pope would decide he was being infallible. You know, he wakes up one day and says, "Oh, yes! I'm just in the zone here, things are really humming, and I'm just going to do something pretty damn infallible, I can feel it in my bones!"

I was thinking something more along the lines of Cartman: "Respect My Authorita!!!"

As for using contraception when they are not meant to. Isn't that why they have confession?
Which I think is a brilliant idea. Do what ever you want, then say a few Heil Marys (or is it Hell Marys. lol) and you are sweet.
None of this Protestant, having to be good all the time stuff.
Which is probably why they have this born again stuff.

Ok, I never really got this religion stuff.

One should at, that since one knows that anyone can edit the pages, one kinda expects people to add abusive things to wikipedia pages of things they don't like and people to edit out things they don't like written about themselves.

It doesn't surprise me in the least that the political parties are tidying up their wiki entries. They would be stupid not too. I have no idea what the fuss is about.

Yeah I'm always using the site, for technical information or just basic general knowledge.

    <quote>Er. "hardly ever crash". Wee slip.</ quote>
    You sure?
I find it quite crash happy on my home PC. The updates that they made almost daily about a month ago would break the Quicktime plugin and anytime it saw a quicktime file in a web page it'll crash.
And the version I had in Kubuntu just wanted to crash all the time. The main reason I went back to XP.
