I think you will find that many Churches in this country require tithes.

Those were the type of churches I was thinking off. Though I have never heard New Thought Center and Church.
When I said churches don't, I was referring to the mainstream ones. Or are you tell me that they so many fundies around these days, that they are mainstream?

People have faith in all kinds of fairytale stuff, who are we to insist otherwise?

But when someone uses that to exploit them, then yeah and we should.
Yeah, you can say the same about religion and again yeah we should.
Though most of religion is that harmless feel good factor, that some people need to get themselves through life, then well, who cares.

Churches extract large sums from their "Flock" to the detriment of their wealth and wellbeing.

Actually they don't. It's the american inspired fundy churches that do. And deserved to be mocked as much as the psychics.

If the intent of the show is to highlight unsolved cases, why isn't it called "Unsolved Murders"? I would have thought that would be interesting enough on its own. Dispense with the psychics (and save the program some money).

That was my conclusion from watching Media 7 last night too.
I'm disgusted though, using murder victims and their families for entertainment. And the argument about it highlighting unsolved cases doesn't really fly because of the use of the psychics and their promotion of them.
They are using it as an excuse for exploitation.

  • Hard News: Food Show 08,

Starbucks has never been cool in New Zealand, except perhaps to kids who should really still have been drinking milkshakes. It might play its role in more meagre coffee markets, but here it's strictly for dorks and tourists.

Exactly, that's why here in CHCH their cafes are only in the square, where the tourists hang out and in the malls where the kids hang out.

Last year, when I was working in town and stopped off at the coffee stand, the barrista was talking about an interview she had just given to an american tv crew, making a tourist programme.
She was complaining because the interviewer was trying to get her to say that Starbucks created our coffee culture. She kept trying to correct him, but he just didn't wanna know.

  • Hard News: Wild is the Weekend,

So, even if we go on to retain the Bledisloe Cup, and win the Tri-Nations, he'll still be right!

    Yup.

Personally I think Deans coaching Australia is a good thing. Now he gets to prove to the NZRU just how good he really is and just how useless they are. Maybe in two years when Henry's contract is up, they may make a decent decision.
Don't get me wrong, I would never support another team over NZ. When a player gets transferred or the coach changes you don't change your support to another team. (People that we saying they will were just mouthing off about NZRU's decision.)
I had to turn the horror show off with ten minutes to go, it was just too awful. Had to load up Battlefield and kill someone on the xbox.

  • Hard News: Te Reo and the Resolution,

It's via satellite and yes, you have to be a Sky subscriber to get it

Knew there was going to be a catch. I'm fair to cheap for that.

Freeview PVRs are a couple of months away.

Actually that is what I'm more interested. Since I keep forgetting when programmes are on and they seem to put the ones I like up against each other.
Will they replace the current decoder or are they an add on?

  • Hard News: Te Reo and the Resolution,

There doesn't seem to be much info on the sky website.
Do they use the satellites for Sky HD or terrestrial?
Does one have to sign up for other sky services to get?

  • Hard News: Truck Off, etc,

if you pay for a download its playable on the platform you down load it on

That's kinda like buying a CD, that will only play in your car CD player.
If you want to play it in your stereo, you have to buy another copy of it. And other to play it on your PC etc.
    Sounds absurd doesn't it?
Yet that's what a lot of DRM does and that's why I bitch about it.
I bought it, I should be able to play it with what every I want.

RB has a bee in his bonnet?
How come I only see you (robbery) post on here about how DRM and how DRM free is wrong.

  • Hard News: Google Trending and MGMT,

I'm a professional software user with nasty copy protection on it. I'm reasonably good at computer noodling and some of the stuff I use seems impossible to work around illegally.

You mean software tools you use professionally. eg Compliers, CAD programs, MS Office?
I would hardly consider it to be the same thing.

Sorry about that, but when ever I rant my grammar goes out the window. Not that it's any good any other time.
But I'm sure you get my drift.
