  • Hard News: Do you like what we've done…,

Kitty flash? You, sir, are going to hell -- and you won't be allowed to hang out with the cool damned.

  • The end of the road West,

Mind, given her reputation, she only could've been a disappointment.

I thought it would have been nice if Mrs Falani had turned out to be a soft-spoken, long-suffering angel with a supernatural bullshit tolerance rather than the Samoan attitude adjuster wielding termagant we'd been lead to expect. :)

Or Rumpole's She Who Must Be Obeyed

Not really. The thing about Hilda Rumpole is that it rapidly becomes obvious that Horace is actually a bit of a dick to her. Yes, she wishes he'd apply himself a little more to a career worthy of his talents, but she obviously adores him while not putting up with any more of his nonsense than she absolutely must.

Really? I must've missed that- what did he say? It's a shame, because he was arguably the most charismatic presence of the show, and I've liked him in everything else I've seen him in.

Yeah, and the Twibe certainly weren't happy that Wolf didn't show up and launch OF's answer to Dynasty's notorious Moldavian Massacre. (The rest is silence? Yes and no.)

But here's a question: After Wolf comprehensively shat on his whole family (not least Van) why the hell would he show his face? Tonally and dramatically there was no reason for him to be there.

  • The end of the road West,

    And where was Wolf?

Being a twatcock, with a name to match, in Bon Temps.

  • The end of the road West,

    No comeuppances, though?

I was hoping someone would bottle Jethro, but Evil Lawyer Bitch (whose name I can't remember right now) for whom "let's fix your mother fixation" constitutes foreplay is an acceptable substitute. More or less.

I cannot understand how anyone can consider Ianto's death to be homophobia without the balance of their mind being seriously disturbed.

Also disturbing how often "OMFG RTD is homophobic" bleats were followed by astoundingly offensive (if not downright misogynistic) smack about Eve Myles. FFS, it's hard enough getting around the stereotype that SF geeks are sad little chaps who view non-porn ladyparts the same way Superman views Kryptonite.

The network, quite rightly pointed out that such a device might become a bit tiresome after a while and it was dropped.

That kind of thing happens more often than you might think -- the pilot of Six Feet Under had these rather clunky interstitial ads for undertaking products, and a Potter-esque song and dance number. Alan Ball said they weren't done again because tonally they just didn't work.

Can I put in a good word for Pascalle, you miserable bastards?

She played the first three or four seasons as a pretty but empty head who was pretty much immune to hurt.

And someone who didn't have a malicious bone or a grain of guile about her. If there were more fools like Pascalle West in the world, it would be an infinitely more agreeable place.

Jethro? Eww -- the little boy who never got that Oedipus Rex isn't a role model. Desperately craves his Daddy's approval, and sublimates it into whatever the fuck psychosexual pissing match he's got going on with Wayne. The perfect cap would be Cheryl finally getting up to speed on what a manipulative sack of crap he really is.

I agree with Megan about the Pascalle/Judd thing being ewww and icky

To be fair, Pascalle and Judd get the whole eww-some ickyness better than anyone. :)

    Eric just plain smells.

Oh, I think Angel would keep him on a very short leash -- and he'd learn to like it. :)

  • Hard News: Rolling back the right to silence,

First they came for the journalists...

... who don't seem that fussed about other people's right to silence being flushed down the shitter. How soon we forget the media baying for blood (due process and civil rights be damned) when the Kahui investigation wasn't speedy enough for its liking.
