"He used to crash parties and Maseratis."

Surely one of the greatest rhymes in the history of Pop.

So good that Minuit recently appropriated it. I'd like to think in a knowing and respectful way.

Personally I'd be running, not videoing.

That's some good ol' koiwoi stoicism there.

  • Hard News: The new wave,

I wrote too soon: nothing from Raoul Island for about an hour.

  • Hard News: The new wave,

The Tsunami gauges on Raoul Island don't seem to be providing updated info. Fingers crossed it is only a technical hitch with the geonet site...

It's done that a few times, dropping out for a few minutes, then coming back on the next refresh. That seems to hint that the data is being delayed somehow, but that the guages are still recording.

  • Hard News: The new wave,

Thanks, Yamis. First reports seemed to indicate that the coasts had been evacuated, so we thought we could afford to be a bit flippant. But this is a real tragedy.

I for one can't wait for the Herald's inevitable "You're Vuze on What Should be Dun About All These Sunami's"

Send them back to Samoa! Damn immigants.

  • Hard News: The new wave,

OK, I'm utterly confused. The Harold is reporting a 90cm wave hit East Cape sometime this morning, but those Geonet graphs show it hitting Raoul Island 5 minutes ago (so 30-60mins from NZ)

At least one is wrong. Which is it?

In a dispute between the vast news-gathering machine of the Herald and a tiny piece of pressure sensing equipment: back the machine, every time.

No they wouldn't - paper is carbon neutral.

Oh, but I'm sure that they make the paper especially from old-growth Amazon rainforest.

Badjelly's cat's name was bowdlerised from Fluffybum to Fluffy - some more innocuous part of it's anatomy.

Stinky excrement! Stinky excrement! Undergarments, Undergarments, Undergarments!
