  • Hard News: John Banks: The volunteer did…, in reply to Graeme Edgeler,

If politicians don't know who is giving them money, they can't do them any favours.

Hogwash - you believe that is the reality of things - Really?

  • Hard News: John Banks: The volunteer did…,

Banks told police he asked the campaign volunteer who compiled the return whether was full and accurate and, on being thus assured, signed it.

Banks signed a declaration without knowing what it was, this makes him unfit for public office

Banks is saying he never read the declaration before signing it and never took the time to check what he was signing was correct and this is accepted.

It really is bullshit - this stance would not be a defence for an “ordinary person” who say signed the declaration on say their tax return or signed a declaration on an application for a welfare benefit and then that return/application/declaration was found to be flawed. An ordinary person in these circumstances would be facing considerable tax penalties or a fraud charge in respect of the benefit.

The law is bent for themz that is the political elite and used to bludgeon the “ordinary person”.

The amount of smirking that goes on with themz knowing they got away with it is nauseating

I wonder where the money will go.

Nowhere significant - I could be wrong but I don't think it is ear marked for anything in particular.

The only question for Govt's is, how do we control it? The second question we should ask is, why are they not telling us of the risks involved?
The time has moved on, the electoral system has not kept pace.

With the coalition partners being ruled by self interest the MMP system has handed a FPP result to the Nats.

The injection into capital markets heralded as a primary reason as to why selling our Power Generation to us is good - will take money out of NZ term deposits and place it in the hands of the Government.

The joke is on and other than bewail the fact there is not much to be done.

Sorry meant to say "taking" us to - thanks for the reply.

NZ has not been well served by either Labour or the Nats - hence the emphasis on shades of green.

The problem with "governance" in NZ is that there are no degrees of separation - that an entity can own and control all aspects of a "chain".

The country is locked up in a series of monopolies and duopolies.

The only “free” market in NZ is the “wage market” and you could consider this to be in essence a slave market for most – when one sets the average wage against the cost of living.

    Ron Don wisdom

I remember as a boy going to Eden Park to watch Auckland play - Ron Don would talk on the PA before the games got underway and people would “Boo” him unreservedly such was the level of disregard he was held.

My wish is that the sports media resist the puerile impulse to exert their “power” and derail the Auckland revival.

Work is not steady -- gaps of a week or two at times. He is not paid for down times, supplies his own tools, works on contract, self-employed so he covers all taxes, ACC etc. He's not getting rich, sometimes he's not getting by.

That is par for the course as afar as any "construction" related enterprise is concerned

Withthe manner matters are set up in Chch Fletchers will do really well out of it - perhaps even at the expense of everybody esle.
