    And how is it today?

    1) Put on long pants to re-peg washing I took in yesterday.

    2) On her way to work, upstairs neighbour returned missing undies that ended up on her balcony. Not even sexy pants, but elderly pappy panties with elastic on life support.

    3) Come to conclusion today can’t get any more socially awkward.

ahem - seems to have survived the experience

Pish. Remember, it's not a showpocalypse until there's an outbreak of situational cannibalism.

they regarded motion capture work as the absolute pits.

I could believe that – can’t really imagine trying to hit a mark on a green screen while wearing a unitard covered in reference markers is every actor’s dream. Then again, there’s a simple reason why you tend to have actors recurring a lot as aliens in SF shows. If you’re prone to claustrophobic panic attacks, trying to deliver a performance through a full head of latex appliances is going to be hell on Earth.

  • Hard News: Angry and thrilled about Arie, in reply to Sacha,

Given the indecision on the TV coverage about them being “friends” I wonder if it was clear to the Police at that time that they were partners?

Russell and Jackie might want to cover their ears :), but do we have some old school heterosexist privilege in the room with a big side of “retards and crips have are sexless beings”? (Funny how often people will assume that David’s my father not my partner. FFS, I've got more white hair!)

+1. It would be a crime if the work of that man over the past 12 years isn't recognised by the academy in some way.

I think Scalzi is right that actors (or more specifically the acting members of MPAAS) get really weird about motion capture. Which is really odd when you consider Brad Pitt scored a best actor nomination for The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, where he spent most of the movie buried under Oscar-winning prosthetics and more digital jiggery-pokery than you could shake a Hal 9000 at.

  • Hard News: Media7: A new censor -- and a…, in reply to Russell Brown,

I think the point is that the law now is – for better or worse – more explicitly prescriptive, leaving rather less room for intangible value judgements.

I think that's a fair point, and anyone who could watch Kirby Dick's This Film Is Not Yet Rated is a simultaneously hilarious and deeply disturbing expose of the MPAA. [Warning: Link contains a playable extract from film containing not entirely safe for work language. Like "senior citizen gang-bang". And a cartoon dolphin doing something aberrant to a cartoon whale. Don't ask.]

The last show features a farewell from Craig

Yeah. Recording that was preceeded with a stiff talking to self along the lines of "Don't snuffle, or I'll stab myself in the face with the mic stand." You get to decide whether it worked.

There are a lot of people to thank, so I’ll keep it to two: our producers Glynis Bartlam and Thomas Watts. Good people.

True that, but since you're far too polite to blow your own whatever, thanks for giving someone with a face for radio and a voice for mime the opportunity. Took some convincing on my end, but "you'll get paid" is remarkably persuasive.

I agree with you, Craig. It would be great to have a philosopher in charge, rather than the usual lawyer of choice–to begin, for example, to pick apart the language of injurious to the public good

To be fair to Andrew Jack (and his predecessors) he's totally right that he has to work within the legislative framework he's got. I just wish we'd all stop pretending that "injury to the public good" is some kind of objective concept like the speed of light.
