Russell, if you're using Safari you can hold down the Apple/Command key when clicking a link to achieve that effect.
Dude, I'm not a total n00b. But having open in a new tab as a default you don't even have to think about seems right for Scoopit. If there was an option box that said "have all story links open in a new tab" I'd totally click it.

Heyho chaps..
Not a word hereabouts about scoopit. But hey... its generating traffic and thats what matters. Thanks Russell!
Can you offer the option of having story links automatically open in new tabs, so I'm not going away from Scoopit? I find that very pleasing here.

Tze Ming, I've just realised, one of our registered users proudly displays his residence as "Hamilton - City of the Future".
Does that mean you'll have to fight him for Roskill honour? My money would, of course, be on you.

and here i was, thinking 'peaty' was a good thing for whiskies.
goes to show, i'm low on the totem pole on learning about these things.
Jeez, I'm in danger of looking like a snob here. I'm not generally keen on heavily-peated whiskies - don't like Laphroiag much, quite a bit keener on whiskies with a bit of the ocean about them, like Lagavullin.
But it was interesting with the really top-end whiskies the way that the smoky flavour got kind of annoying. There was a lot more variety and nuance in the whiskies with less or no peat.

Of the subtler malts - the sort that don't slap you about the chops, pull down your trousers and then pour a tanker-load of palm-oil over you while you're discombobulated ...
Just reading that makes me need a lie-down ...

That's fantastic! It explains Kiwiblog...I jest Mr. Farrar, I jest.
I don't mean to be mean, but I popped over for a look, opened the thread discussing the Turia blurt ... six or eight posts in, no Sonic or Phil U trolling (and not a lot of insight, humour or information either). So Murray starts demanding that they turn up. Sonic does. Normal service resumed thereafter. Jeez ... Some people don't seem to have anything to do if they have no one to snarl at.

One appeal of any rigid ideological framework - political, religious, whatever - is that it's one way to avoid (or actively strike back at) the messy, complex and perhaps even intractable bullshit of being alive.
Nicely put.

If you read the latest thread in Tom's Blog the comments get progressively more snarky.
More like deranged. Why do people get so abusive because a free service isn't working very well?

... and the Cancel/Allow prompt when you try to do anything tends to put you off doing anything.
Read the first post in that Slashdot thread I linked to ...
