From my understanding that isn’t actually what people say though, and further, if it is, dear lord, get over yourselves.

Labour is a dying party precisely because the members cannot get over themselves. Who is really interested in their infighting; not the voters.

but you can hardly hold that against Labour.

Labour in 05 all but told "vote us where it counts in so we get the marginal seats and we will coalesce with the Greens". Rather than forming a coalition with the Greens where it would have had to have made policy concessions, Labour screwed the Greens royally, claiming in a a fit of sophistry that it had never promised anything.

Instead Labour went with the odious Peter Dunne giving United Future direct entry to power. I clearly remember a Christchurch UF oik MP on ZB radio the Monday morning after the election ranting that "anyone who voted Green was insane" (direct quote) and spitting other bile. UF refused to go in with Labour if the Greens were in too and for some reason Labour kowtowed. It was shameful, and until then I had often voted Labour. Never have since. Labour seem to me to be only interested in Green votes, not Green policies.

Completely batshit. But possibly in a clever, distracting way.

Insanity/memory loss defence, or the stress is getting to Banksie? Key will not be in the best of moods because he had an unlovely press conference today too. Poll darlings really loathe it when their luck turns; dummy-spitting coming soon.

Here he shows a great combination of Unrestrained Abandon and Good Use of Cushion Arrangement

I would also enter him in the Controlled Loll section.

You make the false assumption that Key is leading, when he is only fronting this National government. Joyce, Brownlee and McCully would still be there, and Collins and a few others, even if Key was forced to swallow political hemlock. He has no idea, ideals or ideology to lead with - he just wants to be PM.

I don't think of John Key as purely a frontman. There is more substance, even though his ideology is not what I agree with -- and that he thinks differently to me about many things doesn't make him bad per se.

Leo my team leader at work. If he disapproves of the music he sits on the keyboard.

And so it could be possible with a different Labour Govt?

Any government providing they are prepared to make meaningful compromise -- and that is what New Zealand does not have.
