  • Hard News: You've got to listen to the music,

I reckon Muse has a line in beautiful bombast that's appealing.
the horrible end of the pomp spectrum is the emocraptrapism that is 30 seconds to Mars does it.

I'm not going to BDO, but I am going to Rufus Wainwright. Yummles!

  • Up Front: Same as it Ever Was,

    One for you Christchurch peeps:
I was parked in Northlands mall waiting for my mum to come back from the shops. The car parked in front of us has a young male passenger. I notice he seems to be doing something, perhaps changing his clothes. Vigorously.

Then a young woman's head suddenly rears up and the realisation dawns. They are having sex in the (busy) Northlands car park. Fair does.

    Another thought.
Dad is sitting in the car with me.

  • Hard News: Apple-pie Embedding,

Good news. I'd be also keen to embed in Wordpress.

Brenda was an impressive speaker at the National Digital Forum this week at a Fair Use Forum. She spoke about the dread people meters, and incidentally Hamish Keith has a similar stance.

  • Hard News: Greetings from the Garden City,

How about a bit of Chch foodiness for the weekend? I highly recommended the pork sandwiches from New York Deli ... they make them with Rachel Scott bread, onion jam, and the crackling all smashed up into little crunchy delicious bits.

Plus Richard Till will be doing a talk in the Central Library on Sunday.

Groovy things I've been told of this week:
For all you polaroid freaks http://www.poladroid.net/
And a right creepy blog cakewrecks starringLenin Cake

  • Hard News: Rockin' the Casbah?,

God, I used to be such a music magazine fiend. Had a compactum full of Q, NME, Select, Uncut and the odd Face & Viz. Nowadays I get Q out of the library, and rely on Hype Machine mp3 bloggery and friends to hook me up with the fresh stuff. Mags used to be the way into the new, now they are more about the post-mortem.

Donny and Marie dollhouse? Wowsa! My sister and I both had Marie Osmond dolls, the weird thing was that although they wore the same rather fetching pink and purple chiffon dresses, their faces were different.

  • Hard News: Food and drink,

I was just pleased to see Geoffrey Palmer back, since my uni days he's been my favourite politician. A gent & a scholar.

I bought a soda stream to make soda water, but one of my faves is to add Buderim Ginger refresher. It's not too sweet and hey presto your own gingery beer type concoction. Elderflower sounds lovely too though, will have to give that a go.

Ta for the music too. I've been enjoying the new Manics album Journal for Plague Lovers. For anyone who felt The Holy Bible was their meisterwork, it's a brilliant Kapow! from Nicky Wire & crew.

  • Up Front: NSFW,

In my mind NSFW stood for "not suitable for work" i.e. if the boss wanders past and you are looking at this you are going to be hard pressed to say if it is for any work related purpose ..

  • Hard News: Veitch,

an aside, did anyone see the news item on TV3 about Aorangi School doing a rap video to persuade old boy John Key to fix the building? youtube as lobbying tool indeed, but oops spot the spelling mistake in the video (sympathetic).
