I recorded that to VHS from RTR and played it to death for months. But how could I not love a band named after a patch for the ARP Odyssey? Mind you, I believe they were the inspiration for a catch phrase that became common among real Ocker pub rock bands: "There'll be no hairdressers from Melbourne playing keyboards in OUR band, mate!"

The other thing I've noticed is that the more times a lyric is repeated within one song the quicker that song reaches my threshold of tolerance.
Then this should reach it quickly.

I can't hate Phil Collins too much. He might have ruined Genesis with MOR pop and sold out with twee soundtracks, but in his day he could drum.
I can forgive him, given the production on "In The Air", and the pop-progginess of "Home By The Sea".
But greater respect goes to Peter Gabriel.
Thanks for posting that: I only knew the version on Mister Heartbreak. Speaking of which:
William Burroughs, Peter Gabriel, Nam June Paik, John Giorno: I'd forgotten how much Anderson's career was like a 1980s hipster bingo.

It's not that we have nothing in common, just that in certain aspects, we are complete opposites.
For instance, no saxophone tie, but a jersey with a keyboard pattern.

Oh yes. I remember reading a Keyboard magazine article about Jan Hammer where de discussed in painstaking detail how he used synths and effects to create the lead "guitar" line on that. I spent a lot of time holding my Casiotone like a keytar.
Keyboard magazine was a strange, anachronistic beast. At a time when I was hoping for tips on how to sound like Depeche Mode, Eurythmics, or Art of Noise, they were banging on about Weather Report, Rick Wakeman, and Emerson Lake & Palmer.

Since the original post is about musical torture, I feel that I have to share two tracks that I genuinely love, yet have to admit that I shouldn't have inflicted them upon others.
When this album came out, I drunkenly tried putting this on the stereo at a friend's party. It never got more than a few bars in before someone would roughly yank it off the turntable and put something like Dire Straits on. I finally gave up when the disc got covered in Miami Wine Cooler.
This is much more recent and much less minimalist. Potent earworm juice. I have tried to introduce my colleagues to this on several occasions, but I think they're about to take out a restraining order on me.
