  • Matt Swinson,

I won't be made a persona non grata for linking to a Sun ad, will I? No Liverpool supporters out there I hope...

  • Peter Darlington,

Lessons of the first morning? I'd love to stick that Mexico midfield in with Uruguay's strike force. Might have seen a little bit more in the way of goal action. Dos Santos the player of the first day for me.

A classic group first round, lots of huffing and puffing but really it's all about not losing. France will be most unhappiest about this round, Uruguay will be happiest, not a bad morning for Sth Africa either although they're probably rueing what would have been a hugely emotional win for them.

  • BlairMacca,

Could I make a bold pick that France will go out in the first round??? Having said that they lost the first game last round and made the final, cheating bastards!

  • giovanni tiso,

Can somebody help me with something: whose feed are we getting in NZ? Is it BSkyB? It intrigues me that there's only one commentator and there are no sideline reporters, as it if was meant as a second-grade export.

  • George Darroch,

Has anyone else seen the McDonald's 'we support the World Cup' ad with the three guys on the couch?

Everything that is ridiculous about football, in the most expensive sports ad of all time.

Write the Future (dir. Gonzalez-Inarritu 2010)

Oh, and I have to say that I don't mind the K'naan Coca Cola anthem either. If music must be commodified in the most relentless of fashions, you might as well have a good time doing it.

Gio I think we're getting the 'official' FIFA feed. FIFA are becoming a bit like Skynet, but with less robots, if you discount the German team... :)

  • giovanni tiso,

Ah, Fifa's own coverage... interesting. Thank you Peter.
