  • reece palmer,

Having said that, it would also be great if Telecom were to deliver their broadband service as advertised. Since the great unleashing the fastest test has been 2.2Mbs. Beforehand I tested many times and recorded the full available 3.5Mbs, so my Go Large plan is not delivering "as fast as your line will alow" especially in light of the supposed max of over 7Mbs and neither has my account been credited with the promised $10 credit either. Thieving bastards all.
    Liars.

  • John Holley,

Well they seem to have fixed, for me, the main URL loading but I still hit problems as soon as I follow a link off the main page or try one of the links from the RSS pages.

Also, I don't think they have followed accessibility guidelines - and certainly the tools for checking accessibility (W3C Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 1.0) seem to confirm this which is disappointing for those with vision impairment or blindness. A search of the web site turned up nothing.

  • Compie,

    Ditto John.

The front page loads a treat, just don't expect to read any of the stories.

In the case of Coddington, that is a good thing.

  • Ian Hickling,

WHat would we do without PA? I've been sitting here for days wondering why Safari wasn't returning the Herald (gulp, yes, it's my home page!). Firefox works better, but I thought it was some bandwidth issue here in de tropics, or getting out of NZ. What ever is wrong with NZ if they still print stuff by that woman...I thought your "trat" was meant to be tramp!

  • Deborah,

The little yellow star beside the opinion pieces indicates premium content, for which you are supposed to pay, but so far I haven't had to pay a cent. Are they backing away from trying to get people to pay? (A silly strategy anyway, when the workarounds are so easy.) Any word on this?

  • Lance Wiggs,

The Herald does not load for for me as well - It looks like the Herald didn't test their site with OSX and Safari, which is amusing given that the Aussie boss of APN digital has a mac.

Also annoying is that the old links I had to 'Business' and 'Sport' just stopped working - no redirect here.

Looks like this was rushed out for Christmas, just in time for us to all leave for the sun.

  • Russell Clarke,

Are the Premium Content restrictions in place? As far as I have experienced, there isn't any - and I've never (nor would I ever) subscribe.

The little gold stars are there, and clicking on the link takes me to the full articles. Is this a Christmas gift? If so it's pretty sick - imagine finding Garth George in your stocking!

  • John Holley,

Things seem a bit better with the Herald site on Safari but both Safari and Firefox error consoles clearly show some faults with the JavaScript (much more detail from Firefox).

Not surprisingly they both give the same set of errors for the Herald and Stuff sites e.g. the unsafe Javascript in Safari's case.

Anyway I blame it all on them being on a mobile phone whilst designing.

  • reece palmer,

Well Mr Brown, Granny is watching you like the gnarled old buzzard she is. The story I linked to yesterday containing a mildly amusing error has been edited and corrected. Points for effort...

  • Eric Dutton,

    Looking forward to Christmas.
Last year the editor's Christmas greeting was premium content. Goodwill to all men etc, but only ar a price. Why can't granny make premium content available for free, as does the Economist.
