  • Myles Thomas, in reply to nzlemming,

Yeah yeah. 30 odd years is a trend of non-military GGs. Strange to change back but not conclusive of anything, just unusual.

Meh. 30 years is the blink of an eye in governance terms.

Yeah. Our politicians are always planning things for a 30 year time frame. Oh ... hang on ... where did that extra zero come from ...

    A2 Brutus?
We direly need some Dairy air fresheners...

Spin doctors used by Prime Minister John Key and the National Party have been employed by a dairy industry giant to try to undermine one of New Zealand's most successful businesses across the Tasman.
Global milk giant Parmalat engaged heavyweight public relations lobbyists Crosby Textor to discredit the science behind a2 milk and damage its successful Kiwi rival, the A2 Corporation.

...it's all very Game of Thrones isn't it?

Why, just imagine if someone viscerally interested in other people and businesses' intellectual property or metadata as well as secrets and weaknesses had access somehow to a sub rosa surveillance system so vast as to defy defining, imagine if venality was rampant, life was cheap, money no object...
Then add all the exotic names: Oravida, Parmalat, Fonterra, Synlait, Criss Cross Crosby Textor...

    Imagine...
    What a show!

...and this is just in the Dairy aisle!

    Now imagine...
what cans of worms could be dug up in the Mixed Arable Cropping sector*
    - a rich field of dreams, and food for thought for future TV dramas...
Hmmm, OrganoPhosphate mutations, big machinery, inbreeding, a veritable bucolic cornucopia!
    Ka-Ching!

Forestry has been done, but surely it's time for a remake of Pukemanu ?

*Canterbury did lose a lot of seed crops this year...
we can't afford to do that too often,
just hope no one notices how vital we are...

Aptly A2 milk contains 2% nicotine and up to 14% ethanol.

Re A2 - There is a farm near Feilding where you can buy unpasteurised A2 milk. You buy a refillable glass bottle and fill it up as required for about $2 a litre. It is full cream so I found it a bit fatty. But it is apparently very popular with the locals and I know of autistic and other people with sensitive digestions who can tolerate it better than normal milk.

  • Chavez 4 Ever,

The West has been idiotically opening up their spy networks to uneducated public scrutiny, and NZ is more open than most... they are supposed to be secret info-gathering networks !!

We've had better longterm success in high-jacking democracy and squashing the Right by keeping all our personnel, networks and information dead secret. And quickly silencing anyone who uncovers anything as well.

Formally unannounced in USAF FK-U1, but not caring to hide his presence is heavy handed and militaristic.

    I think that callsign/model number/ FK-U1 is wrong. Surely it is FK-U2.

Not impressed with The Justice Wylie on this decision. More suppression. Where the hell have our rights gone? I'd be right pissed at the mo if I was TV3.

Agreed. If Banks was silly enough to pick out ear wax his and eat it in front of a TV camera, I'd say run with it. Disgusting habit!

I saw the clip on the night and he appeared to scratch the back of his ear then nibble something so it did look pretty gross, but if that's what happened so be it, to then turn around and disqualify TV3 from airing any more footage is severe. It's not their fault Banks has dirty habits. It wasn't doctored footage.

    Golden Earring... or Gold Finger?

disqualify TV3 from airing any more footage

He can get his foot in his ear, as well?

    I think it was because
    the judge thought TV3
    was All Out of Love
    with that 'ear supply' clip

  • DexterX,

Ho Hum - John Key and John Banks having the victim card played on their behalf by Plunket on Radio Live - one for suffering a candle light vigil and the other for being outed as some one you picks his own cerumen and eats it.

I have it on good authority – the best – actually my own - that John Banks whilst previously cleaning his ears with a vacuum cleaner had inadvertently sucked his brain out - what Banks was up to in court today was actually picking off bits of his brain, which he now keeps in his jacket pocket, chewing them up and the and stuffing them back into his head via his the ear canal.

Best call of the day was a geezer who rang up and said, “He doesn’t like John Minto but supported what he did re the vigil as John Key deserved it on account of the people he knows that where shifted on from state houses who have died as a result of stress or committed suicide.

Nicky Kaye has also earnt a vigil – National and death sentences - must make them feel incredibly strong.

Media do not have an automatic right to record anything and everything that happens in our courts. Indeed, there is a lot that they're forbidden to record by the general court rules for media coverage (pg 74-76) unless the presiding judge rules otherwise. It's forbidden to use footage other than in the programme or on the website nominated in the request for media access, for example, or to use it for promo or trailer footage. Pretty sure that those rules were broken by this clip.

    It's called contempt of court.

Key - putting the 'awful' in lawful
Key can just be thankful that when protestors in NZ serve notice of intention to 'prosecute' for peace, they tend to leave the house intact and limbs still attached.

    For them engagement means talking,
not raining hellfire from on high!

Those rules for still photographs also look like the shot of Amanda Banks in the witness box yesterday would also be in breach of the rules. Why haven't the Herald been called on that?

Yes, and I'm sure that TVNZ's editorial staff forced TV3 to run footage that was outside the rules that the judge (who apparently said no footage from outside the first 15 minutes of the day can be used) and the courts generally have applied to the media coverage of this trial.
Saying "But, but, TVNZ supplied it" is a cop-out. TV3's editorial staff made the decision to use it, knowing the rules. They're in trouble for breaking the rules, and TVNZ are not despite being the source of the footage. Taking the footage is allowed provided the rules about how it's taken are followed. It's the use thereafter that's got TV3 in trouble.
