Little Treasures

I neglected last week to mention Dylan Horrocks' chat about comics on Nights with Bryan Crump on Radio NZ. Dylan's knowledge is deep and his commentary is relaxed and thoughtful. I'm pleased to hear it's to be a semi-regular Wednesday night thing. You can hear the first one here.

Tono and the Finance Company's debut album Up Here for Dancing is streaming in its entirety on Soundcloud, in advance of its release next week. Tono's artful pop songs tell stories and conjure characters. It's cool.

Only a totally different tip, the Hype Machine world has been extremely excited this past week about Zeds Dead and Omar LinX and their new EP, Victor. Pop, hip hop and dubstep; surprising and free for the download. As ever, I like the big, girly ones:

Soulwax never seem in too much of a hurry to do their remixes -- or even to actually release them. Their remix of The Arcade Fire's 'Sprawl II' was premiered on BBC Radio One by New Zealand's own Zane Lowe and, lo, radio-rip MP3s propagated widely across the internet.

This is gorgeous and I would cheerfully pay money for a high-quality version of it:

In the market for a two-hour mix of heartful disco-house flavoured niceness? Leftside Wobble has the seventh in his Acid Soul series up for the download on Soundcloud:

And of course, there's last night's Media7, featuring Scott Yorke on the media and our privacy and Kevin Milne and Brian Edwards on celebrity endorsements. You can watch it on demand here.

Righto. I should ride a bike, or write something for money. Preferably both. But not at the same time.
