Steve, I have it on pretty good authority that the beer may well be named after a large native, extinct, flightless bird... which will save us drinking so much whisky!!

They (multitools) seem to inspire almost fanatical loyalty... all I work with have them, and they're all equally passionate about the relative merits of their 'cutlery'... especially when liquored... which I'm sure is more than a little scary to the uninitiated. I doesn't help that we can seem to be speaking a different language sometimes :)

Hmmm, I guess I could use one of the blades to stir my doppio :)

The ruler is amazingly useful... it does have a metal file... and I have been known to file my nails with it too!
I've found the trouble with corkscrews on multitools, is that they catch as you put the tool into pocket or pouch...

Yay! A pissing contest about multitools.
They're almost an essential tool in theatre... I've had one on my belt for over 20 years... Gerbers... Meh... they break. I reckon the steel has been hardened to the point of brittleness.
For the last 10 years Ive had one of these. Best tool I've ever owned... and I've used every function at least once... although I wish it had a thingy for getting the stones out of horses hooves... just in case:)
Barnes, you'd like the Swiss Tool's ability to be used as a set square... just brilliant... and it's square too (be a bit bloody useless if it wasn't!).

Heh... It's a terrible life alright... Damn! Now I want salmon caviar.

Islander. The freshly smoked lagoon trout, that I ate in Okarito, is a meal that will remain with me & in my senses, for the rest of my life!!

The sausage shop has many, many beers Sofie (even some 'open source' ones that Steve might like :). Although I'm not sure how late it's open.

We did indeed Sacha... in fact the Elliot Stables my be not such a bad place for that sort of gathering. And has the advantage of having the Whiskey Shop on the premises too!!

Heh... Thank you Gio... I think...
I fished out my copy of Roger Horrocks' biography to check the resemblance and realised that I never finished reading it... so there's my reading for tonight sorted...
My photos of the event are
here... There is a panorama of the room at the end of the night... and a couple of shots that shouldn't have worked, but came out very evocative of the dancing part of the evening. Well, I think so anyway.
