  • Hard News: The Big Roundup,

Maybe I am getting old too, because I was quite scared even watching the 'death circle' business (from the safety of the East Lounge!)
I just dont get it. I can understand the mosh pit, but forming a circle and bouncing into each other in the middle of the mosh pit - just plain strange! Through the binoculars (I know - I AM OLD!) I did get to see a few juicy punches being thrown in these 'circles'.
Can anyone with a teenager (or an insight) explain the thinking behind these?

  • Hard News: The Big Roundup,

Apparently the 'sound issues' were because the wind was blowing the sound back into the PA (or so I was told by some sound-engineer type). The sound did seem better from the East Stand though. It really was an oasis of calm after the madness of everwhere else....

The placing of the food stalls was very strange and did make it very difficult to move through that area. Didnt they used to have a little area with stalls around the outisde of a nice grassy area to sit in?

  • Random Play: It’s Only Rock’n’Roll,

I completley agree with the sentiment expressed here - the Logan Campbell Centre is a terribly dismal place. Although we really enjoyed Tenacious D last week, paying $71 each for seated tickets (as we feel to old to face a mosh pit full of pimply teenagers and 'emus' as my mother calls them!) ... felt a little excessive, the lack of functioning air conditioning probably didnt help. I was also confused by the removal of the sipper tops to the Pump Water purchased at the bar...can anyone explain this?

I too will be interested to see whether the movement of people is better at this years BDO....having never thought of a logical solution except for less people.

  • Hard News: Getting the pip,

Is anyone else a little suprised that the Femmes are playing on the Green Stage (up near the main entrance)? As a supposed 'headline' act, I find this a little wierd. Its not a huge area up there so I guess they arent expecting a lot of people to hang around for them....

I am also bummed that Kasbian and Lily Allen are at the same time - given that the line up isnt that great, it sucks that they have stuck the only half way decent acts on at the same time.

I dont think I will ever top 2002 with Prodigy / Basement Jaxx / White Stripes / New Order or 2000 with Chillis / Basement Jaxx / Foo Fighters / Nine Inch Nails or way back in 95 when Ministry & Hole where headlining and Courtney Love played her whole set without underwear (those in the mosh pit will remember this well - as she stood with her leg up on the amp for most of it!!!)

Ahhhhh - the good ole days....

It seems like everyone has a lot to say....I presume that you are all providing this feedback to those who actually NEED it...

  • Open for Business,

I am not sure that my life has been enriched by the offering of 'Living Famously - the story of Benny Hill' that I managed to catch late last night. I also noticed that along with Piha Rescue re-runs (which are bearable) they are also re-running Gary McCormacks Heartland.
Saying that - I am looking forward to some decent 'BBC-style' programming.

We have already forked out the huge upfront sum for MY SKY, but has certainly been money well spent and think it has probably paid for itself several times over already. The only problem, given some of the upcoming delights on this channel, will be capacity!
