"climate deniers". There you go again, Russell.

The new tax on travelling to NZ from the UK will not be the first time that Politicians seize the opportunity to tax us using man-made climate change as the excuse. But have they ever needed an excuse? Mind you, a majority of us are pretty easy pickings when it comes to accepting taxes based on the climate change debacle.

My experience with 'Homeland Secuirty' during a recent visit to North Carolina wasn't too difficult, but I felt very uneasy and quite stressed. Unlike the other four times I had been there. It seems the 'people' on the immigration desks are there to make you feel as intimidated as possible (even though a sign says that they are 'friendly and here to make the process helpful'. When I told my colleagues that the US is a paranoid nation, they just smiled nicely and told me that NZ had never suffered an attack with 3000 deaths. No I said, but why make me suffer...

I let out a muffled 'yahoo' on Sunday morning (as my family were asleep) as I read that National was reviewing the ETS. At last some sense and impartiality into this debate. I don't think we should be at all afraid of the terms of reference for the review. Assessing the quality and impartiality of sources is a great idea. But I guess that depends on who is assessing it.
I am totally prepared to accept the possibility of anthropomorhic climate change if it can be proved. By the way, Russell, you again use the 'deniers' tag for people like me. Please don't seek to close down the debate just yet by continually giving us negative labels. There is a lot at stake here.

And why is it that we care about Marilyn Musgrave?

I agree with Jason here. Christians have a variety of views in NZ, right through the political philosophical spectrum. I hear some christians talk about Helen Clark in conspiratorial terms often. For example, she's a closet lesbian etc blah blah and how the 'sisterhood' rules NZ.
But I have also heard less extreme views. Views that would make the Left proud. It's really not as easy to put christians in the same boxes that you could put US christians. I spent a week recently with conservative christians in North Carolina. You would think by listening to them that Obama had horns.

I think Winnie's real stuck this time:
"O he started to climb out of the hole. He pulled with his front paws, and pushed with his back paws, and in a little while his nose was in the open again ... and then his ears ... and then his front paws ... and then his shoulders ... and then-'Oh, help!' said Pooh, 'I'd better go back,' 'Oh bother!' said Pooh, 'I shall have to go on.' 'I can't do either!' said Pooh, 'Oh help and bother!' ...

It was apparently a little more urgent than that. It does seem a tad reckless to board an eight-hour flight when your waters have broken and you're actually in labour.
Good grief, Russell. Let it be. If this story is true, I owe you a drink - within certain conservative limits of course :)

It hasn't taken long for the muck-machine to fire up over Sarah Palin. It's interesting how predictable it all is. The Left and Right try to take the high moral ground and are ready to smash anyones character in their way. Who would be a politician? And I guess it makes for a good conversation starter on Public Address. I await those emails from Walt Monegan. If he has them let's see them, otherwise these little conspiracy theories just make a good story...ho hum.

Do you think that John Key's endless virtuous comments might come to haunt him?
Yes, but virtue in politics is surely a plus. If he gets roasted one day because of 'virtue' then let it be.
