Funnily enough was listening to Dangerous Game on youtube the other day.....it's a song that really resonated with a much younger me, possibly around 15 or so, and may even have incited (or contribute to) an interest in dub. Great drumming too.

Would love to see a stuntclown reissue, particularly with the first 7 track ep as a bonus - my pressing of that came from Germany and unfortunately ended up decaying.......there's also the wonderful live versions of donca and do the headless chickens on the bside of expecting to fly that need to be resurfaced!

No reflection on the kids, more a recognition of how far away I am from Peking duk!

Grace Jones should never have been on the small stage. It was a superb set, and she is absolutely amazing, the band too were stunning.

Peking Duk was so bad that it just shattered any and all vibes generated in the previous hour, in a way kind of vindicating how good Grace was. I'm certainly not feeling down with the kids if that's indicative of what they're listening to!

Apalling stage choice, but mind you I have no idea why the decision was made....nice to have some space at a festival though.

  • Hard News: Paths and ways,

Went on the walk today, it is a great place to go....was a bit surprised at the rails ending in different sections, so if you weren't too hot on the bike it would be pretty easy to go over.

That said, so pleased to see stuff like this, mangrove swamps are underrated!

  • Hard News: Friday Music: Saving the St James, in reply to Jonathan Ganley,

That was an appalling review - the reviewer clearly didn't want to be there, and spent most of his words informing us of this......I thought it was a great show.

  • Hard News: Unscripted Drama,

Was at the ground all four days, a superb test and completely nerve wracking/compelling on the last day. Having done the same for the English test and ending up completely wrung out at the end of that one, I wasn't sure I was able to go through it again, but it was fantastic to watch. So much better at the ground too.

And yep, $45 is way too high. The food ain't too hot either, and they DEFINITELY need to either change the beer, or bring in a decent premium, 'cos the certain brand they sell (hint: successful t-shirt catch campaign) is just plain awful.

At the moment though, as a fan you couldn't ask for anything more. I might even have had a beer or two.

  • Hard News: Squatting in the Square,

I think one of the main reasons this has come about is that there has been a prevalence in the last 7 years (in London in particular) of people going away on holiday and coming back to find their house occupied by small gangs who targeted such homes.....at least there were a number of press stories about this in the past few years. There was even one case where someone had gone to the shops and come back to find their house had been taken over.

When they do get their house back it's been trashed.

No doubt the rule is a sledgehammer to cover all cases unfortunately, but there did seem to be some justification at the time
