especially when such activity is burdened with high flying aspirations only a small number can even contemplate, and the rest of us are supposed to be unquestioningly inspired by. And its all about money anyway.

  • Southerly: Bricks and Mortar,

The commencement of work on the second pair of chimneys revealed three hitherto unknown cupboards hidden behind the wallpaper.

Being in the process of demolishing a 1900's era house myself, I was amazed by the nest of cupboards I found constructed around the fireplace, or place where the wood stove would have been. Must have had something to do with drying and airing of clothes, bedding etc.
    Hope it goes well.

Trying to make the point that it may be aging that makes you

    ........What?
Our minds are malleable no doubt, but does age mean you just change your mind for no reason. Or just drift back toward what is generally accepted by the majority?

But I appear to have aged fast.

Or morphed into a member of some other generation. I guess your balding now.

Don’t be precious. Transparency doesn’t hurt. Truth is knowledge. And respectful.

But we are just human. So it's said. OK, I grant that. How to live according to ideals of which I don't like the consequences of, at the moment. So self sacrifice or not umm.... That's a NO. Did I have a Homer moment
Where is the out, in that ramble?

Hunter draws a picture of a system (Hunter always capitalises it “System”) determined to protect itself, even at the expense of an innocent man.

Sooo was it that way? Or just people covering their arse.

He also said in parting: "You just tell them I sleep well at night, put it that way.”

Having a conscience or not about your job, does affect people in different ways.

  • Hard News: Getting Out,

    From the article. Thanks Graham

Over the past 30 years, government control has diminished the university influence

It happened in the UK and here. Politicians getting their sticky fingers into pies they know nothing about, except how to screw it up.
I'm not saying university education is the answer, but those at the top end of the education system should have more say in education than politicians and businessmen.

But that would be a hard sell to the huge group of people who think all prisoners are scum and should be treated accordingly.

That would be learned behaviour, this they can't or won't unlearn.
Of course if you can learn to stop smoking this would be a stroll in the park.

  • Hard News: Belief Media, in reply to Sacha,

Have always been impressed with the idea of us walking backwards into the future looking to our ancestors for guidance.

Like it too. I contrast such obviously thoughtful ways of facing future days with the phoney bravado laid over the "dreary desert sand of dead habit" of modern day leaders.
As they trumpet 'Follow us we have the policies to solve all problems'
