O hai - I made another one.

I couldn't resist getting my lolcat on with the bag lady photo: lolbag!

__On the Media7 election special, Linda Clark declared that she had only had one pamphlet in her letterbox in Ohariu-Belmont__
We're in Ohariu (renamed at this election, natch).
I was surprised to hear someone as politically savvy as Linda Clark get the name of her electorate wrong. (Perhaps she was too busy watching her letterbox for political leaflets!)

Miranda Otto, yes, but I don't think her dad was in it. But the water tower was, along with Chinese food.

A now rather obscure but different little Australian movie that features the 'magic' of Barry White unleashed upon a small-town generation who'd never heard him before
Love Serenade is one of my favourite movies! It's a perfect combination of sleaze, surreal and perms.

__Sinister...__
Is he left-handed too? I didn't realise that...
Oh, speaking of - you know who else is left-handed? Barack Obama.
The Washington Post notes he's yet another left-handed president (recent presidential southpaws include Gerald Ford, Ronald Reagan, George Bush Sr and Bill Clinton).
So the big question is: which hand does John Key write with?

He pulled out that appalling line about 'having no kids makes you inferior' - citing the fact that the front bench of the Labour Party had one child between them whilst the National Party had 23.
And yet it was National MP Katherine Rich who decided to leave politics in order to spend more time with her young children.
A career in politics seems almost incompatible with being a hands-on parent. Male or female, you pretty much need a "wife" who can look after things while you're putting in the hard yards.
So while a childless MP wouldn't have the first-hand experience of being a parent, they also wouldn't have the distraction and extra stress of parenthood.

Someone described Soul Bar to me as the same crowd (men) that used to party at Casablanca in Parnell and now, of course, are 20 years older, but that the women are the same age as those who once frequented the earlier venue.
What does that tell us about Nikki, I wonder?
It tells us that Nikki Kaye is friends with (gasp!) men who are (gasp!) older then her?
What is controversial about this? Not all women fit the "Sex and the City" gal pal mould.

You can tell by the houses: made-over villas, freshly painted in tones of grey with a cement garden for OSP and a stone-clad wall to keep the natives out.
Oh, God! The one thing I don't miss about Auckland is all the old houses and building being painted dark grey - the same colour as the roads. It seems like an unorganised campaign to camouflage suburban areas so they look like motorways.
Another feature of these houses - low maintenance gardens, which end up looking barren due to the large numbers of cactuses and rocks that such a garden requires.

Auckland Central lost Point Chev, which provided a substantial chunk of Labour support. At the same time, the gentrification of the inner suburbs has continued apace.
So Auckland Central's becoming a slightly hipper Epsom?
