Whatever hope I might hold for Cunliffe isn’t about his publicly reiterating my feelings, it’s about his making a real change.
Oh check out the footage Joe, Cunliffe seemed to have an epiphany of his own right then and expressed it openly and shockingly honestly. If he chose at that moment to be guarded ,don't you think , that would be considered preening or posing?The audience he addressed seemed to me to be shocked, relieved and appreciative and thankful. They were in the room with him. Damn the media for expecting a John Key performance.Damn the media with their cheap shots.

Not good enough then is it? How about a better look at what the Conference was about? What the Politicians were there for? How about how the Organization can get help to stop the cycle of abuse? Oh, that's right ,you said it
lots of money will be spent on making it all go away.
That would be helpful if there was more funding, more for counselling ,more housing of the battered, more chance to address all issues related to that.
I think it sad that even men here find David Cunliffe's message to battered women posing or preening or fucked up or alienating. He spoke to a women's group and apologised that they were hurt. -
Men who use blunt instruments and or buckets of money to solve problems.
So yes, some men, some of who have empathy even.
Because remembering that men and women are the same species, and very similar to one and other, is important when we are trying to achieve equality and resolve interpersonal conflict.
So men should not apologise to a group of (many battered)women at a conference for battered women by men? Many of those women have waited their whole lives for an apology for not being believed or heard or helped. I'm sorry but because David Cunliffe said it (and the media chose to fudge it), I find it impossible to say he fucked up. Go back and watch the footage. He was not preening for one and he understood the feeling in that room for two. Of course Pullya Benefit and her cell phone had no idea.
Geez, yes, it's an Election year, but empathy out the window? Why? -

Those comments, stopped reading after a few but the cop (once blue, always blue), he would have a fairly good idea of the streets and the empathy in his words were there. Actually surprised me.

When Labour get in, we should push to have the Mission and other Centres being acceptable for a postal address for receiving a benefit and advocate to have someone ready to help people get paperwork done for that. There is a campervan in Seattle that has been decked out as a shower for the homeless. It drives around ,parks up and connects to the fire hydrants then anyone can have a shower. I liked the idea and thought it could be implemented here.

FWIW , I have sent a message to Campbell Live. They have responded with interest about updating ChCh and the woes. I hope something comes of it. So, Cantabrians send forth your emails to them , they only want ph nos so they can follow up. give them the heads up they are asking for.
