I know that in your magical world where repairs and replacements take place at the speed of light money also grows on trees and spare capital equipment is just littering the countryside ready for use once every few decades, but this is the real world.
Matthew, that seems unduly harsh. People are concerned, frustrated and worried. You might have a lot of knowledge and experience in the area, I don't, and the same question 3410 asked occurred to me.

Russell, apologies if this has been previously identified, but the PA Radio consistently crashes IE regardless of what show I select - this might be a fault with IE or my settings specifically but it may be something about the new site (which is really cool btw)

This just went from mildly disturbing to all out inappropriate, IMnsHO.
Real. Humans. FFS. Show some restraint.
Quite.
I'm entirely inexpert on these matters and despite comments upthread about fanciful faith in the authorities, I do assume that everyone charged with this rescue is doing everything they possibly can.
This is upsetting for everyone even vaguely connected or interested and possibly this distress is getting the better of some commenters?

Sacha, I think they're wise to Key's SOP and will pin him for his lack of judgment - his spokesman's colourful phrasing is starting to look very silly.

And in doing so, they've exposed the relative inexperience of Key (and indulged him in his tendancy to make rash judgments)

Mallard's question was very well crafted and Key's reply very very poor. It'll only be in the Chamber that Key diverts any responsibility by discounting Mallard's right to question. I don't expect editorials to be favourable to the PM.

A range of MPs were tweeting on Saturday about the perk, including Tau, Heather Roy, Metiria, and Chris Hipkins. There may have been others too
They were, yes, I was just interested that it appeared to me that Tau started the discussion.

Up thread, Neil Morrison possibly, made the comment in favour of the perk in some form as MPs often continue in public service after they leave parliament. That's my experience, but hell it's hard to defend the perk when it's been abused so often. I mightn't have picked it up early, but I actually think Tau Henare, in a tweet, was one of the first sitting MPs to suggest it be dumped and I'm inclined to agree with him.

Emma, I should have noted Emma too as I assumed both agreed to the content of the correspondence Duncan signed.

Not very Friday, but I want to refer people to this email by Duncan Woods sent to Brian Edwards in response to comment he made on the sentence given to the killer of Nayan Woods a few days ago.
A wonderful statement of humanity and parenthood I thought. Recommended reading for a time when being upset is OK!
I can't begin to imagine the grief this family feels and I'm genuinely humbled by the grace of Duncan Woods.
