I'm with you, both on the total shonkiness of Endemol, and the opt out organ donation. Even the current (for want of a better word) system should work - many, many people (including me) have indicated on their driver's licences that they wish to be organ donors, but in practice, the hospitals etc pretty much ignore that and ask the family if they're allowed to take the organs - resulting in a lot of refusals.

"I don't believe in an interventionist god, but I know that you do."
But if I did, I would kneel down and ask him to intervene when it came to Brian Tamaki.

Off topic, but not irrelevant - Russell, I'm curious as to whether you've considered breaking up posts like this one into smaller, self-contained, single-topic posts? In the absence of threaded forums, it would make the comments flow, rather than having two very separate conversations going over the top of each other as in this one.

But do you use your heat pump in reverse in summer to cool the place down? If so, there's another stack of power use from the pump, while the heater is tucked away in the cupboard for the season. OTOH, how much power does my ceiling fan use?

or do you have one from each perspective?
Wow, that's the same question my mother-in-law (from waaayyy before the PC era) always asks - "which one's the man?"

Police have confirmed they are investigating allegations of racist activity on the night of the party
Not as an extenuating circumstance I hope.
I wonder if the drive-by gangsters in Wanganui had cellphones? The press should get on that - enquiring minds want to know.
And Tariana Turia shoud be ashamed of herself. "not all cops are rapists & not all gang members are criminals"

Oh, and of course fighting
Time for some 'make love, not war' education for the youngsters then?

Sturgeon's Law applies to music as much as anything else.

Maybe we are all bogus?
Or do you mean bogans - I hear there's money in that these days.

the Hamners (or possibly the Hanmers).
Which blows his story - his surname was (and probably still is) Walling, and he alleged the mountain was Walling Mountain, but changed to Walton to be more TVmatic (the small screen version of cinematic).
