It's a topic she opened. And as soon as there was talk that there might be more to it than she said, a journalist was always going to look and see. Political speech gets questioned in democracies.
And I say that with every sympathy for the issues she raised.

Yes, she’s always been just plain and simply – believable.
I tend to think of her as my sort of person, in that she went to Splore because she wanted to.
A couple of years ago at Splore, my buddy got separated from the rest of us when we moved along, and got left with Jacinda and Clarke, who we'd bumped into. He proceeded to have a great night in their company – and couldn't believe it when they went and fetched him when they moved along.

Unless Ardern has a disastrous campaign, she would surely be smarter to wait for Winston to do for the Nats what he has done to two previous gov’ts. Quitting on election night has been part of Labour’s problem: it’s a habit they should break.
They will. Labour's constitution now requires an endorsement vote in the February after an election – which, assuming she doesn't have a disastrous campaign, the party will surely give.

Witty, composed, authoritative. The best media conference I've seen a Labour leader give in years.

I had a conversation with a friend a little while ago, who expressed the view that Labour should adopt some Corbynesque policies like free tertiary education. They announced that policy a year and a half ago ...

I hope all the curmudgeonly old farts who go on about the RMA being a lot of PC lefty nonsense strangling all possible development will check this all out.
But isn't the irony that all this was a result of the Board of Inquiry, which was Joyce's bid to bypass the RMA? Or do I have this wrong?

Yep. It stops for a few crossings along the way, but it's traffic-free.
Well, almost. Taking the cheap option a few years ago with the stretch from Hillsborough Road leaves some of it on a quiet road. But the big problem there, as I noted in the post, is the punishing climb to Hillsborough heading north – on a heavy chip surface.
