A salt meadow on an estuary near Dunedin. As I recall there were glassworts here but I don’t seem to have any closeups. Quite a number of salt-meadow specialised species in this photo.

I think that's a glasswort . Native which grows more typically in salt meadows.

That's a fine 22-degree halo! Caused by the glints of millions of ice crystals in upper-level clouds, 22-degree haloes are not uncommon, but we tend not to see them because we don't look at the part of the sky near the sun. More information here . Yours is unusually colourful!

Just while we're all out swimming and frolicking, perhaps it's a good idea to refresh our memories about how drowning doesn't look like drowning - it can happen silently and without others noticing, until it's too late.
One way to be sure? Ask them, “Are you alright?” If they can answer at all – they probably are. If they return a blank stare, you may have less than 30 seconds to get to them. And parents – children playing in the water make noise. When they get quiet, you get to them and find out why.
