The principal at my kids' decile 10 state primary school sent a note round very early on last year saying homework isn't the norm at his school as there was no great evidence it worked and home time was best spent playing and being with family and all the learning that goes with that.
reading between the lines he was saying - stop being so angsty you silly wmc parents - your kids will do much better sharing your time than doing stuff they should be doing at school in the first place

Clarke et al who are worried about petrol prices should be even more worried.
The govt is about to give your local council the ability to levy another 10c on petrol for local vanity projects... sorry that should read transport and infrastructure and other projects.
That will go on top of the cost of carbon and the extra cost of biofuels that are also being legislated. The only way is up baby...

I think I got it Ben ...but it took me a while.
My concern about media is not that they reprint releases. Some of them actually might be well written (eh Jason?) and actually true (shock horror).
My concern is that other media pick up the story uncritically and do not develop it. Why do the media believe what each other say and print. I would have thought they would have been the last ones to trust each other's writings...

If Obama is a smoker, this surely will be great for our FTA with the US as him and the appropriately named Winston will be able to make major advances while hanging out outside the back door of the White House.
