If your gonna ban it you might as well ban nutmeg at the same time. Or canned whipped cream.

    ..... or poppy seeds

  • Hard News: TV list show in "doesn't…,

"...have you guys posted/chatted about 'colourway' records the STh Aux hiphop label and alleged money laundering arm of the killa bees and tribesmen gangs ?..."

I am not entirely sure if that subject fits with the age and demographical profile of PA.

Not so much of that, but really just another boring drug bust, of a bunch of idiots, who think it is a good idea to label themselves "killer whatever. Also their main man had recently been on Cambell live to protest their gangs innocence in another violent activity.I really don't understand how importance is placed on drug busts, and why that is our news..

  • Hard News: Acid Man,

I've got a copy of an old interview he did where he explained his process and he was alot more rational & orderly in his painting process than what one might think.

LSD is a great way to find the order in total confusion.(maybe, sorta.)innit ;)

  • Hard News: Acid Man,

    Sid Barrett, on Kodachrome.

That about says it all for me.Fond memories of my own.LSD was all good in my book/novel,

How would you people who are parents feel about your kids using LSD etc if it were legal and available?

I mentioned to my man's 15 yr old that if she indulged in "experimenting" being aware that the consequence may not always be fluffy white ducks, and if you are prepared, then it is called " life"I found experimenting with drugs young, gave me a much better grip with alcohol .(in a ' don't drink much' kinda way)

I thought playing current local music was wot student radio was for?

Yep.If you go to BFM you may find an example of student radio at its finest, and I would estimate around 40% NZ music content and local bands live on breakfast with havoc.

  • Hard News: Not all victims are equal,

Ok reading all thoughts, figured I'd put my 10c worth.
The media seem only interested in their coverage. Perhaps they figure,if they hang around long enough, they may get a 'blame' story. They dragged it out long enough for this weeks 'funeral ' story.I chose to get some basic info and move on.
One odd thing we discovered when I was in a coma and subsequently recovering, was that our neighbourhood had had prayers for me at their local church.I don't do church, never have, I didn't know these people, they didn't know me.4 years down the track, strangers still greet in the street and enquire as to my health. They also check to see if the other 1/2 is alright. Thing is they are genuine.Another observation is , they are very good at funerals too .It is part of their big picture, which often is a celebration of a life, not out and out misery. They also love sharing their faith so the media is a comfortabe way to share, I guess.I just hope one message got through. the centre needs a sat phone, and change the 'crossing a swollen river' policies.

  • Hard News: Hot Media,

It was a slightly difficult recording this week, not least because it was very bloody hot indeed on the set,

hey Russell, is there any reason that you can't take off your Jackets in a situation of lights, camera, sweating?I don't think it would make people think less of any of you and a more relaxed attire may be of benefit in more ways than one. Just a thought.

  • Hard News: Pamphleteering,

I suspect most people would think that 'proving your worth' isn't likely to have too much to do with whether or not you have a job at the other side.

ok but (yeah but na but)one thing I achieved and taught my staff was confidence, competence and worth and that created a good environment. If you are worthy, you will probably keep the job over the one who is miserable about the prospect of losing it Also if you ask(not demand) for help when dealing with people in pulic services, they (9 times outta 10)will feel worthy and try to do a good job.Gotta have some faith, methinks.

  • Hard News: Pamphleteering,

And do you seriously think that a round of 'cuts' and downsizing won't require a large cadre of managers and consultants to oversee and administer?

Actually that is exactly what happened at TVNZ when they were recently downsized and" the all new human resources team" were hired to smooth the transition for staff who were about to be axed.Noone knew who was to be chopped but my friend was quietly satisfied when, the HR new employee assuring her department that unemployment could be a great opportunity ,arrived one morning to clean out her desk. Surplus to requirement. My friend promptly took lunch to celebrate.Oh..how we laughed.

  • Hard News: Pamphleteering,

Sadly, and anyone in the public sector who thinks they are in a safe role is perhaps a little optimistic.

Plus many have just been put into a category of "too many bureaucrats"( although none will know if it is themselves)and are often being spotlighted for incompetence by the Nats.If I was in this position ,I would b e busy trying to prove my worth, which would be for the greater good of the public sector
