  • Hard News: Campaigns,

Mahers audience has got that confused puritan/fetish thing going on = Republicans.

I can't listen to The Rock either, beyond the fact they talk total sh*t. Listening to the morning weather report being brought to you by a strip bar while getting a kid off to school is something I can't do.

Correct me if I'm wrong but there is no issue with breast feeding in NZ? And for that matter no legal issue about either guys or dolls taking their tops off in public?

  • Hard News: Campaigns,

Tusla was a pretty vivid recollection by Hilary which was totally made up. She didn't get confused with another time this happened. She made it up.

Holding her responsible for her words is right. Holding Obama responsible for his Pastors words isn't right - not that I have an issue with what he said. It sounded like a verse from "Born in the USA" to me.

On Mike Williams, I think he is in an impossible position & who knows, was he rolling his eyes at the time? Either way it's a bit harsh to chastise someone for facilatating a bit of brain storming.

  • Hard News: Campaigns,

"Mike Williams -- the fool -- uttered words to the effect that it was a damned good idea."

    Mike Williams a fool?

Not in my book, working desperately hard in an impossible situation, not of his creation and being marginailsed for his failing to do so, is not proof of him being a 'fool' by any means. It is a sign of the how Clark works, the impossible constraints placed on Parties and the blame game she has now extended to the Party as Labour implodes.

    What of NZFirst?
Are they moving away from "we'll negotiate with the winners" = No Policy.
To now requiring a Policy delcaration from National prior to the election?

  • Island Life: Rage against the machines,

Andrew any idea if your friend can build one that falls back into a recessed position for dogs to drop the ball in and set it off?

Might need a co2 cylinder, collection pan & tube to deliver the ball into the launcher assembly.

For the intellegent energetic dog and super lazy master.

I couldn't think of a better use of a Firearms licence than making Fireworks.

Ben - any sudden change will lead to chaos.

A reason order is so prized by many cultures, & Roger Douglas will never get any power ever again.

Revolutions are always bloody things and an environmental one will be pretty ugly with nowhere to hide.

Haiti just lost its Prez over the price of rice & Joseph Smiths crowd have to have a 5yr supply of food in the garage. I'm not gonna join the Mormons just yet but I've got a suit and a bicycle.

I/O - Love it. The lies we tell about ourselves are illuminating.

    a) Womens' (Womyns') Sufferage = Isle of Man 1820
And Truth be told it wasn't Kate Sheppard who was the hero of the day in NZ (she took a year to get on board with the idae of using Parliment) it was a Bloke, Sir John Hall & the dead drunkeness of an evening sittings at Parliment.
Sir John Hall exteneded Voting Rights to all men (I wonder who was excluded - hmm?) 4 years earlier.

    b) The Atom was split in Manchester by a guy as Kiwi as Martin Crowe.
    c) Everest or can we say Sagarmatha is in Asia and ya' gotta ask who kicked sand in Eds face that he had to "knock the b'stard off"?
    d) 4 minute mile - hmm - maybe but who was he running from?
    e) Apartheid - Glenegals comes to mind.
    f) FTA with China - Pakistan, Chile, Jordan, Thailand, Hong Kong & Macau.

  • Hard News: Icon Identities,

Essentialism starts off as being a bit twee at 1st glance but it leads to some pretty exclusive assumptions.

The "West" are a homogeneous group and black people aren't part of the group.

Oh yeah and what does that say for the native Taiwanese?

I'm sure given a 1/2 hour chat I can find a connection with most people on this forum (other than this forum).

I'm off to read some Noddy now.
