Hard News: Forgetting what we didn't know, in reply to
New Zealanders flock to the National Party or the principle of the National Party which is the feel of steady ship politics and as few changes as possible unless it involves lowering a tax.
John Key is the happy face of a passionately conservative ruling body, the face they were so badly needing after a succession of unfriendly charmless leaders. Our conservatives has ruled tax havens are cool. Why? It doesn't work as a conservative principle or an economic one.

Garner and Gower seem to be primarily obsessed by the bland indifference of the blue ribbon citizenry of N.Z and their ability to hold majorities in parliament and/or water down any potential opposition Governments vision .
A large chunk of the conservative electorate are not issue based but in love with the weird security of the big blue N. Very difficult to shift public opinion with such crosby textor enablers running our news services.
Garner types are crosby textors dream news dudes, shallow, impatient and so ready to move away from issues that may involve digging and serious analysis. It’s a sad joke.
To dismiss this story as nothing is jaw dropping. Why did both gentlemen become journalists? Surely not just to be a t.v celebrity.

A true correction will unfortunately wipe out a lot of perceived wealth but we've been there in 87, it's time to get real with our economy and not some crazy fantasy of Auckland being an international bankers town, which is John Keys fantasy. Auckland changed.

Polity: A short history of half-baked…, in reply to
We need a one house, one citizen city. If you have excess money you put it in the marketplace. We need to have broader domestic commerce , a broader domestic scene creates more ideas, and pure new business exists for one idea only, better ideas.

Capitalism is about creating services that extend the pleasure of life not buying each others houses, we all have to go to sleep somewhere every 16 hours. National are a strange party, textor crosbied to cross the line every 3 years but no real capitalist vision, and that's disgraceful from the party of business, they are the tea party of N.Z

Taxing is the most efficient means of taking immediate heat off the investment sector side of housing. Housing is a need for all citizens, not a bull market, it needs to be readdressed at its basic core, it is shelter , it is wrong to have it spiraling around like an enron share certificate.

Up Front: Cui bono?, in reply to
They have Peter Dunne and the young man from ACT. They are the votes that create the majority for most of their visionless legislation.

Prince, too early bro.

It's all about the votes. Voting is dominated by a very wealthy party, very well off, no sweat on campaigning $.

It also should be noticed that when you leave a bunch of people work idle for 8 years you do detach them from the work society, from its 8 hour workday social practices. It’s never a good idea to run high unemployment numbers this long but in National world its just P.C to not talk about ramifications of poor social policy.
Also Bill English pushes obviously unemployable citizens on to the dole and then complains that they are unemployable. Jesus.
