So, it turns out Silo Park is quite photogenic.
That’s the top of the Sky Tower reflected in skypools in the last one!

Lovely work, everyone! I'm particularly taken with your toadstool Jos. Looks so like deckled book pages.

Speaker: Why we can’t just fix secondary…, in reply to
Long story short: the benefits of income splitting flow disproportionately to high income earners, especially those households where one person is in a very high paid job, and the other person is very low paid or not in work at all. It’s worth thinking about which sorts of people are likely to fit into that pattern (hint: it’s not low paid workers in South Auckland).
I realise tax breaks benefit high-income folks more.
BUT. A little extra can make a huge difference for those who are struggling.I've been in the situation of being a disabled spouse wholly supported by my partner working 2 jobs. No WFF, no Community Services Card (just over the threshold), no Disability Allowance. Actually bloody hard. Income splitting would have been a huge gift to us.

My beef with secondary tax is how it relates to couples. If one spouse is non-earning, and the other spouse has 2 jobs, the household pays significantly more tax than if both spouses are earning.

Speaker: The secret Christchurch…, in reply to
Minnie, I'm so sorry. Sounds like you've coped with astonishing difficulties. Nobody should have to deal with so much crap. :-(
I hope there will be some way for you to get a fresh start, with heaps of support. Big hugs.

What I really like is when people outside Chch allow us to speak, and listen to what we say. The situation here is so complex and difficult, and very few people outside Christchurch have any understanding of it.
I get the sense the rest of NZ is sick of hearing about Chch troubles. You can bet that Chch people are much, much sicker of talking about them. Let alone having to experience them! But we don’t have any choice.
