Of course any donation sounds great to me. Must admit though, when I was there. there was something nostalgic (possibly knowing that Miles had lived there) about that place. One ward housed amputees, and the one I was in...,well lets just say a few stroke and lots of other shit, but it had grass to touch and knickers on the clothes line and you could shower as long as you liked and my dog could wonder through the rehab. She learnt immediately how to open the self opening out patient door and after persuasion was considered therapy. I am positive others benefited and I know people changed around her. I'd say any donation would be great for rooms like the dining room, or halls or toilets or gym, or definitely nurses station. Go for it.:)

Oh, and just quickly while thinking about PAS, can I say it is lovely how it morphs into sessions with real people .It's a jolly good site. David, everyday becomes a celebration of life. You wont sweat the small shit. Cheers.

Yes I agree. This site started as a therapy for me whilst on chemo and from then came the need for a laptop. :)

If there is any way I can help re questions about my stroke experience ,I have just put my email up so feel free, although David's experience is a bit like snap to me (yet so much better than I could write) 'cept I got a consolation prize of epilepsy. So, for me as mentioned previously on some other thread, I was fascinated with all the learning about berry aneurisms, sub-arachnoid haemorrhage, strokes and epilepsy and other such. My man has also become quite the little book of knowledge so he can fill in my memory gaps. :)

Hey David, Howzit? Been to that rehab plus also and a little bit of history is a friend of mine with spina bifida used to live there until they trialled a flatting situation for him(Miles) and another person there (Shelly), of which he happily still does to this day.The building still has the faded hygiene stickers attached to the public toilet green paint around the building.
Very similar situation to you, but my man just commented that mine was a wee bit more complicated. Reading this flooded my memory of things that I think I subconsciously chose to forget.You are so right about lack of information but it was available if you asked of which we did plenty, which became rather annoying to them but good for us. It's been 5 years for me and I feel fukin' fantastic but not as I was although less alcohol and not smoking is a good thing yeah?Every year something gets better so you give it your best and take care. I highly recommend red wine but!:) -

You can't easily have it both ways.
So use the already paid for stuff. Put money into the terminal for ships and ferries. Markets already exist and are vibrant. If you start with a comfy open space (not too expensive) Other bits will be added as the need or want occurs but it can be useable immediately. Open the Gates.
I do think Mayors do tend to like some sort of monument for their time in office and hence delays when they are voted out plus another shelved idea sits but if we start to build it, the people will come which is a wonderful incentive to continue.
Have competitions and people will feel consulted. Sorted!

BTW, where's the Auckland Transition Authority in all this? I can't see how anyone could credibly argue that there's no ongoing financial impact on the new Council. Banksie's pretty much promised it.
That is what I think is the problem. In general (because Aucklanders are just like that) we don't mind change for the waterfront, but we do mind this whole business of "DO AS WE SAY!" without consultations or consideration of our rates. It really does feel like we are in a rut thanks to the new Agency but all of a sudden it's play with the waterfront. If this is streamlining, consistency is out the window,plus could we get some idea of what rates are going to be. It feels like mind games for the super city concept, lots of window dressing.

Many hands make light work.Start with the market they pushed out of Aotea Square, farmers markets. Put an effort into some safety around the waters edge (if not ,revise swimming pool regulations) Sculptures (like the one that used to sit in front of the PO,now Britomart) could come out of storage for a start and take visitors through a terminal to an intergrated public transport system that will skip over to trains of to Kingsland or buses via Vector Arena or sit on the waterfront for an open outdoor space to enjoy the view.
