That took me back a looooong time ,when a short back and sides cost...$1 about the last time anyone other than my wife cut my hair
Jimmy Jones cut my hair then and I am pretty sure I took one of my sons to him before he retired so that three generations would have been under his shears
He as rumoured to sell condoms but not sure about that
I am sure the smell of bay rum would take me back to those inocent days of rugby, racing and beer -
I do not see why we all have to own this problem and go on a guilt trip
But I di think we need to look for sensible solutions
And taking children away from the percieved "bad parents" is not a track we should go down, it is just so stupidI think the hospital questions is a good start, compared with some of the things they do to you there that is small beer
My "big idea" is to put more money into the Plunket Nurses so that they can do more visits and have more time with young families
I am from a middle class background (or worse) but when our sons were young remember the plunket visits as a bit scarey but so helpful
Any reasons why this will not help -
Thought you were talking about the weather here
19.5 C at 11 oclock
But the month is said to be the coldest in 30 years
My point being the weather changes day by day year by year
It is the long term changes that count and while there is some evidense that it is getting warmer shouting out "climate change" every time something changes weatherwise is not helpful -
Yes I agree the only way we are going to make progress on this thing is to make people pay the true price of the energy they use
As long as the government keep their sticky little fingers out of the mix
So if it is true and we are running out of oil the price will go up and up etc
My worry is what is NZ going to do for money when the tourists can't afford to fly here and our agricultural produce is priced off the world market.
Taken in each others laundry -
One of the things I notice with this whole debate "guilt trip"is that it is always everybody else who must change
Dairy farming... bad, mining fossil water , not paying for free water etc
City people using huge amounts of energy cart their food to them and their waste away plus just driving around in SUVs
The experts flying around the world ( I had to laugh at the woman in the "Listener" who is doing just that while living in an uninsulted house)
No large city is sustainable
So is the answer that we disperse to the country and live on a acre section and eat only what we produce or is with in walking distance? -
Are the good old Amstrads, also my first coputer although mine wa a tape drive and oh so slow to load
I tried your survey and had trouble entering the 1 to 7 sections, well more than a couple of entries -
Ben, on the up side you probably did not have any intestional worms left which has to be good
Comparing BZP and alcohol, humans have a long history of using booze, we know the risks and what may happen but while BZP seems to have no short term problems (actually seems perfect for getting high apart from the taste) who knows what the long term problems might be

I think I can live with 16 year olds voting
But we allow that do we then treat them as adults in the legal sense
It would make life easier if we sent all over 16s criminals to adult prisions...not sure if I can live with thatAt the present under 20s have various legal rights that are designed to shelter them from the more silly things they might do
They have an almost automatic right to bail and a right to seperate prisions, cells at the remand level etcIt is interesting that over the generations the age when we are expected to take up adult life (earn a living, build a family, may be marry) is getting later and later but at the same time the legal age to vote and drink is made earlier and earlier

Not just an Auckland problem, apparently rioting broke out with the police fully stretchedin the little country town I live in
Closer examination of the facts reveals that three were arrested ,a tire were slashed and one window was broken
Pretty normal especially after a local rugby win
It all seems like a media beat up to me and (tongue in cheek) and an obvious try by labour to distract from the bad polls etc -
Wishart=Wishard=nutter
A belated well done on the Netscape awards RussellAnd was I the only one amused by Chris Trotter use of your material in his paper column
You normally know where you stand with Chris although he tarnished his reputation with me with his stand that the lefts dodgyl money grab was made all right because "we are morally in the right"
