Malcolm - It's not OK, that is why there are consequences, but I do respect them for making a stand.
And Kyle brings out the classic symbolic actions of Mike King (an embarressment to all Maori forresters) when he attempted (& failed) to cut a tree down. Involking the history of cutting down flag poles by Hone Heke.
I do see these as legitimate forms of protest.
After being let go on bail they gave a clear statement they weren't wanting to attack the infrastructure as that is NZs role to take. They merely wanted to highlingt Waihopai, which they did.

Nice T-shirt Tom :)

I was waiting for a train to cross while listening to Prebble go off topic, do anything but address the issue.

Steve - One of the cnr stones of sustainability is to build for locals not tourists.
I'm of the understanding Air Travel doesn't pay any tax on its fuel. So as far as passenger travel is concerned - The trains on our terrain can not compete with the plane.

Versuvios was a Christchurch beacon of hope for a civilised society, with red wine, live jazz, and teppanyaki dining down the back.
The land lord decided to up the rent and the bar owner flipped his lid and gutted the place on the spot. At least it was quick & didn't suffer from rejection when it came to the end.Phoniness is fine - a little social lubricant for the sober staff to get on with the liquorish allsorts of punters who come their way.

Craig - fairpoint.
I like the outcome - as much of it that is known. As for proceedure it does seem to be of the worst type. -
Well Lone Star is casual, that's their brand and they don't book in, which David was made aware of, it has been their procedure for a mere 20yrs.
Lamenting things passed can I just say, I miss Vesuvios.
As for Red brick, it is nice to look at but the acoustics have me either walking outside to talk or cupping my ear to hear.

What's with trashing the Lone Star?
At least it has flavour.
As for price, keep an eye on the court pages - many of those cheap places end up with underpaid staff of variable immigration status & the odd conviction for black market seafood etc.
IMHO Itallian has to be the most boring food after English. As for dark eateries have you tried the Bicycle Thief in Christchurch? They should give you a white cane on entry. -
Tranz Link freight forwarding operation - with a totally govt funded roading system.
Craig is fiscal conservatisim going to extend to the roading system, tolls at the driveway & on ramp?
This inconsistency of govt policy has brought us to the folly of trucks as the main form of freight forwarding and with the rise of fuel is no-longer sustainable.
The historic policy errors of the 1950s are coming home to roost with our coming fuel crisis.

Trans-Alpine must make a profit otherwise it would have been axed.
